Great for exercise snacks! Much better than those singles spring-hinged old school variants. Quality is very good on this product.

Post Hand Surgery
In April 2013, I had surgery for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) for numbness in my dominant hand, which resulted in significant hand weakness. Also, an MRI taken November 2013 revealed arthritis in the wrist of the same hand. Only in the past few months have I been able to hold anything over 15 pounds without moderate hand and wrist pain, and playing my guitar has been difficult because of cramping in the hand. I had been using a foam stress ball to build some hand and forearm strength, and for a while it was adequate. After looking on Amazon's list of hand strengtheners, and reading the reviews, I decided to order the Gripmaster Pro with 11 pounds of tension. Eleven pounds doesn't sound that much, but compressing the individual spring-loaded finger piston pads provides sufficient tension to give each finger a good workout. After receiving the Gripmaster Pro, it appeared to be well-constructed and capable of relatively long-term use. The first time I used it, I felt on the lower end of mild to moderate pain in my dominant hand and I wasn't able to completely compress the finger pistons. (I do recommend that you lightly stretch the muscles in your hands and forearms before and after each time you use the Gripmaster.) Over the next few weeks, the pain lessened and my grip became stronger as the muscles in my forearms became more conditioned. After nearly 3 weeks of consistently exercising both hands with the Gripmaster my grip is significantly stronger, and this past weekend I was able to help carry cafeteria size tables a short distance with no relatively no hand pain. The wrist pain persists, but I've been taking methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) 1000 mg for the past month and it seems to help. Now, I use the Gripmaster several times throughout the day to continue conditioning my hands and forearms to improve my grip. This was a good purchase, and I recommend it without reservation. Also, if you have a similar history as mine, I do recommend that you consult with a physical therapist for the best hand strengthening system for your hands. Hope this was helpful.

Gripmaster Pro proves to be a medical device
This product far exceeded my expectations. I have had the product for 18 days. Four months ago, I tripped and caught myself with my hands, most of my weight was on my left hand. Unfortunately, as a 44 year old male, my fingers did not heal as quickly as I thouht they should. I was preparing to make an appt with an ortho Doctor, but, I thought I would give this product a try. My fingers were constantly in pain. I am someone who works out 3-4x each week. I can run 5 mi without stopping. I was shocked that I was in this pain just from catching myself from a fall. 1) My hand started improving within 72 hours--I'm not kidding. 2) My fingers were noticeably stronger in 1 full week. 3) The constant pain in my fingers have completely left--I thought I was enroute to surgery On a scale of 1 to 10, I was a 3 when I began using this device 18 days ago. Today, I am a solid 8. I am extremely pleased with this turnaround in only 18 days. Initially, I used the product on a daily basis. Now, I want to really get my strength back and "go hard" every other day. This will give my muscles a chance to fully heal. I fully expect to be at a "10" in the next 6-8 weeks. I thought I was enroute to the surgeon--for sure!! I bought the the med tension, which was plenty for me. I am using this on both of my hands. My left hand is getting so strong, I don't want it to pass up my right hand. Do the exercises slow. Use 1 finger at a time for max results. Maybe I will work my way into the 'heavy' next year, but I am not in a rush....I'm not 21 years old bench pressing 300 lbs any more. I'm just trying to stay healthy and away from the knife of a surgeon. So yes, buy this product and you are trying to rehabilitate your fingers. I think the xtra light would be great for a broken/fractured finger. Good luck

They're ok, but have some quirks.
It's really nice, small form factor, works out the muscles well. Just 2 cons on this device: 1- All the springs are the same tension. That means the max tension of this device is not 4x9LBS, but 3x9LBS, as the 3 bottom springs bottom out before the 4 top ones do. It also means your pinky has a much harder time to work out than your index, or middle finger. When you buy the light version of this, is great for pinky, but lousy for index/middle/ring finger. The red (medium tension) gripper is good for the ring finger, but somewhat basic for index and middle finger, and hard for pinky. in other words, if you're like me, you'll have to buy several to train a hand. 2- The bottom springs are pretty useless. They actually tilt the device when training individual fingers. The company also sells a mid, and a basic version of this device (this is the Pro device). The mid device and the pro device both have the same issue. When the device tilts, it tends to slip out of the hand. The basic version does not have this bottom spring set; and feels more stable in the hand, but doesn't have the higher resistance tension... 3- The bottom rubber doesn't feel very stable in the hand. It's very narrow, and sometimes tends to slide in the hand (esp when sweaty). The top has 4 buttons covered with rubber. It feels nicer than the mid-quality brothers for the medium tension (9LBS) or up. If you want to go for light, consider the basic, or mid-quality grippers, as they are a few $ cheaper, and quality wise make very little difference. Aside from these quirks, these grippers are very good. I bought 3 sets, but for a regular male, I would recommend starting out with the red version (medium strength). If you do regular workouts, are athletic built, consider skipping the regular, and head for heavy, or x heavy!

Klare Kaufempfehlung!

Just want to advise people about purchasing this product. First off all a fantastic purchase, the product is amazing I am a beginner 2nd month bouldering. I decided to buy straight away this X-Heavy excerciser. Do not do the same if You are a beginner I am still not able to do all excercises and I had some little pain in my left thumb from over-training (was too excited). So I also ordered now the medium(red) as well as the Heavy one(black). I will use the red one for warm ups and when I get injured and give it to my wife to start with as well. I will use the heavy one for exercises I can not do yet with the extra heavy one yet and when I get better I will use the X-Heavy. Over-all I am very happy with the purchase I can see after 2 weeks of usage great improvements in my finger-strenght. Highly recommend to everyone who wants to do some sport needing a strong grip. Use the website pro hands(dot)net for more exercises they are great and do not start with the extra heavy version as I did.
