Worth the hype
As a mother to a 10-year-old boy, I've found "The Boy's Body Book (Fifth Edition): Everything You Need to Know for Growing Up!" incredibly helpful for navigating pre-adolescence with my son. It tactfully addresses a wide array of topics relevant to boys approaching puberty, from physical and emotional changes to personal hygiene and respecting others, in a straightforward and age-appropriate manner. The book encourages open dialogue between my son and me, making him comfortable to seek answers to his queries. Its updated content is both relevant and sensitive to today's societal and technological contexts, enhancing its appeal to the modern reader. While more illustrations would be beneficial for visual engagement, the book's comprehensive coverage and accessible language outweigh this minor shortfall. It's a valuable resource for both parents and sons, promoting a healthy understanding and acceptance of the changes during this critical growth phase.

Good for growing boys
Wanted to find something for my son to read to learn about the changes his body will go through and a way for him to read about those changes on his own and this book was perfect.

Great for boys in "pre-puberty"
I got this for my son, and while some of it made him giggle, it also has been helpful for him to use while he's trying to navigate new feelings, smelly armpits, and more. Highly recommend!

Body book?
Why does this include a chapter on divorce? This is supposed to help pre-teens figure out what’s going on with their bodies during puberty, not give mental health help for kids of divorce. That needs to be a separate book that I can choose to purchase. Otherwise, the book has some good info for kids to help them figure out themselves.

Well written
It’s written so my son can understand what’s going on without me explaining it to him. The wording is very age appropriate.

Helpful
My 9(almost 10) yr old son and I read some of this every night before bed. Makes for great conversation and helps these uncomfortable topics become normal and helps him feel a little more comfortable opening up about things. Definitely recommend.

Highly recommend this book.
I am a strong advocate for having these materials readily available before a child ever needs them. I purchased this book over a year ago and this week, at the age of nine our oldest is entering puberty. It is said that it happens much earlier for kids now and, I wanted to have a reliable resource available that was written so that he could understand it on his own, we could go over some of the sections together, and it has been very helpful for him.Kids get a lot of information from other kids at school and today he shared with me that he was so relieved to discover that blood wouldn’t be squirting out of his penis each month. It’s just so important to have information available before they need it. Kids are under so much pressure and life is so much harder than when I was a kid. This is the last thing they should be wearing about.

Great book for my 12 year old.
I am a solo mom of three boys, and even though I have no issues talking to them about most of the topics in this book, my son was not open to talk to me. I got this book (with a couple more) right after his twelve birthday, and ask him to check it out, and if he had any questions he could always come and ask. Every now and then, when I come into his room, I see the book has moved, form his bed, to the desk, to the shelves, to his bed again. I wish I had a book like this when i was his age. Recommended.

Solid, but missing some basics
Looking for a book to get my 7 y.o. ready for the changes in store for his body. Really good book, age appropriate and clear, but for my son’s age, it does need to be read with a parent.Only real complaint is that the book makes no mention of sexual orientations besides heterosexual. For a book published in 2019, I find that omission glaring. This is especially notable in that the book mention attraction and not rushing into crushes (see photo) AND has a great section on bullying (both real and cyber). How can you explore the stress and anxiety of sexual maturation without acknowledging that some people will feel differently, be different and act differently in their development and attraction? Just a quick mention to highlight that these differences are normal and perhaps a few resources as references for kids who want more info would have sufficed.Otherwise, good book.

great book for boys
Bought for my son as he is ten now and wasn't sure how to start talking about what will start happening to his body and feelings and all that stuff this book has everything and they can easily look up what they are wondering about. I can read with him or he can on his own. Not graphic like the book i had omg !!! It lets them know about all kinds of stuff from body changes, feeling, bullying everything a kid has to worry about nowadays.
