Not as I expected but, very interesting
Madagascar: Land of the Man Eating Tree was a quite interesting book as soon as I opened it up. It has dozens of chapters which explains the island's history up to the 20th Century (which was when the book itself was written). Originally, I was looking for a book mainly about the supposed man-eating tree of Madagascar but, I got something that kind of goes beyond it. The first chapter of the book was about the tree while the rest were mainly about the island itself. The good thing is that it holds very interesting subjects which includes history of the island, the people, white men influences upon the island, rituals/marriage, flora, fauna, minerals, and lots more which made this book more like a "history textbook" then a book about a tree. I recommend this book to people who: A) likes to read about a tree that supposedly ate people and B) would like to learn the history of an island.
