Formatt-Hitech 77mm Firecrest UltraSlim Non Stackable Ultraviolet Infrared Cut Filter

I needed a basic protective filter for my lens and found this Formatt Hitech one at a reasonable price.They claim the filter is made in the UK but I doubt this - I believe they are assembled in the UK from parts made in China.The quality of the coating seems decent, with no obvious degradation of the image, which you would get with a really cheap one. I am yet to test it properly on my Oly 25mm f/1.8.At the price, the filter is no worse than the ones from Hakuba (my default prefe), Marumi or Hoya.One negative thing about the lens is the lack of slits / ridges on the filter. It is not easy to screw it on or unscrew it off from the lens. Filters from other manufacturers are more considerately designed with easier grip in mind.Update 25 Sept 2020: I have been using the filter for two weeks and whilst resolution and colour wise the filter does not seem to have practical negative impact on the image quality, the same cannot be said about the way it handles sun flares. For some reasons, it causes purplish flaring anytime I shoot into the light, rendering a lot of the images unusable.

Bought this for protection on my Panasonic 20mm prime lens. Had read so many glowing reviews of the quality of these filters that I had to try it out for such a bargain price. From the minute you open the package you realise you have gone up a level or two in quality. The case the filter comes in is nice with a lovely cut out to hold the filter. There is even a handwritten label on the case explaining what the filter is and the date of manufacture. Very nice touch! The filter is crystal clear and sits solidly in the frame. No movement or rattle. I always clean my filters when I first get them and a real sign of quality is how easy they are to clean. This cleaned beautifully. No smears or streaks. The filter looks so clear you can actually doubt there is glass on it! In the field it worked wonderfully. No glare or ghosting issues, and did not soften the images in anyway as other cheaper filters can. I would definitely buy this brand again. They aren't cheap but you get quality for your money

Fitted to both my Fujinon cine zoom lens. Reduces that ever so slight Sony magenta hue on the fs7 as well as protecting the glass. No visible distortions and seems to reduce sun haze too. As good as the Hoyas which are fitted on my Canon L glass.
