One of my wife’s favourite books. Having been on two beginners courses for photography this book was an added bonus for getting to grips with all what we had both learnt and a whole lot more. Easy to digest, explained in detail with pictures and even if you haven’t done a course before this is the book to use for your photography journey.Don’t hesitate to buy it, just do it!

A good simple uncomplicated book that gives you a lot of information in a straightforward uncomplicated manner.The book is extremely easy to follow, well-illustrated and some simple "tasks" are given by way of illustration to reinforce the points made.A good no-nonsense guide which if you are new to photography would be a good buy.

Very good ebooks , I’m happy

Having treated myself to my first DSLR it remained in the box for several months as I did not have a clue on using it off Auto. I discovered on line Marc Newton from The School of Photography videos and found them so easy to follow that I grabbed this book, never looked back and I’m off auto. I’m still in the early stages of my photography journey but learning so much from this book and constantly refer back to it. The book is gloriously glossy and visual and as it states clears up a lot of confusion by simplifying the art of photography whilst teaching me a lot about my camera.I’m so impressed I am about to enrol in the Complete Guide of Photography online course to compliment the book and take my learning to the next level.If you are starting out I cannot recommended this book enough, purchasing the book also allowed me access to the Facebook group where I can show my efforts and browse other talented members and not to mention the support and tips I receive from this great community.Thank you School of Photography so glad I discovered you.

Well thought out book. Excellent explanations and examples per chapter.It is great for beginners and intermediate photographers and explains the theory in just the right amount of detail and doesn’t go too in-depth that it turns you off. The illustrations assist the points being made exceptionally well. There were certain elements of photography that I just accepted you did not fully comprehending why. Now I get it. The exercises are great and useful to do even if you are a more accomplished photographer as it is simply good practice and hones the skills you have. I recently spent an afternoon just doing some of the exercises again indoors as the weather was bad and I didn’t know what to photograph. It was great just experimenting. It’s a book that I keep returning to time and again for inspiration as well as practical advice. It’s a book that teaches you how to take a good photo first and foremost but it also shows you how to experiment with depth of field or with light or with perspective to get great pictures.

If you are new to photography or even returning to photography this one book will teach you all need to know, it is laid out in such a way that you learn and also practice what you just learned and that way you understand better. Mark Newton has a brilliant youtube channel and offers photography courses online, but this book will bring you to a point where all the technical jargon, f-stops, dof, aperture, iso etc etc will all make sense. This is my 3rd attempt at getting into photography and having this book has made a HUGE difference to anything i learnt before, i get to read sections over a few times until the penny drops but it will drop i assure you. I also advise you get a beginners guide to your camera so you learn what each and all features of your camera do, but if you make only one purchase make it this book, it is the best money i have ever spent.
