Parking Assist with Digital LED Display, 6 Backup Sensors (2 Front/4 Rear Drill-in Black, special extended wires to about 20 feet) (SD6)

I have a 2005 F150 Extended cab pickup. I put 4 of these in my rear bumper and they reeach all the way up to the dash where I have the control box located, so the wires are plenty long.I purchased these to replace another system that failed me because the wires were too short, forcing me to put the control box outside of the cab, exposed to the weather. Needless to say two boxes shorted out and I was then left with not backup sensors and holes in my bumper. Since I already had the holes drilled with the bit from the other kit, I won't comment on that piece in this one. I did run all the new wires that came with this kit. To solve the problem that people have with running the wires from the bumper to the cab, I ran them through the frame with some fancy work with a pull cord, i pulled them through the frame all the way up to the cab. It takes time, but it's worth it in the end. I ran the wires up through a rubber grommet in the floor of my cab in the door jamb channel that has all the wires and then ran it up to the dash through that channel. I placed my distance/beeper on my dash so I can see it and hear it perfectly, btw there is a switch to turn off the beeper noise. To get power from the reverse lamps to the system to turn on, I tapped into the wire that is used on my backup camera, so it may not be helpful for you if you don't have one. I will say that I was surprised at how thin the wires are for the power leads on this. It made it very difficult to work with and makes scotch locks very difficult to use. I had to put small strand of wire around the thin leads so that i could work with it instead. This helped a lot.Another thing, it comes with plastic rings that go on the outside just behind the sensor to allow you to adjust the angle of your sensors. I made the mistake of trying to use them as retainer rings on the inside of my bumper to hold them in. That didn't work. I installed on a 2009 Chevy Impala. The control box is located in the trunk. I installed the display above the rear view mirror. All the power for the unit was tapped off the left rear tail light harness. I painted the sensors with automotive paint to color match the car. Just type in your paint code at http://www.automotivetouchup.com/spray_paint.asp and they will custom match your original factory paint and put it in a spray can. Mine is metallic blue and it matched perfectly. The whole process took about 4 hours including a run to the parts store for some wiring connectors.

Install was straight forward and the wires are plenty long enough for my crew cab truck. I like having front and rear warning. I would put on another vehicle without a second thought. I also painted the sensors the same color as the truck and gives it a factory install look

DO NOT BUY!!!! I spent $400 dollars to have it installed plus cost of the product. The sensors randomly go off and are not accurate at all. BUYER BEWARE.

Met my expectations

Absolute waste of $$$$$$ do yourself a favor and don't buy this!!!! Beeps when it wants, where it wants, whether you're close to anything or not. Sorry I wish I could tell you that it works but that would be an outright LIE!!!!
