Newhouse Hardware CHM3D Door Chime, White

Easy to install, holds up well, and great value for the price!

This chime is officially listed as a compatible device with Gen 2 Rings, but since it may not work for everyone, I'll mention here that it works great with mine. I just built a new house and had a completely new setup; new ring, wiring, transformer, and chime. Although I had some troubles getting the Ring wired (not related to the chime), the chime works perfectly fine. Quick Note: If you're already using a mechanical chime, then swapping it for this one should not make a difference. If you have a digital chime (like Ring Pro) and you're replacing it with this Newhouse chime, then you'll want to make sure you change the "Chime Type" in the Ring settings from Digital to Mechanical.

This item is exactly as described. It’s nice looking, easy to install and we really like it…. but, it’s not very loud. After I installed it the first thing my wife said was… It’s not loud enough.. she is right but we’re keeping it.

I don’t usually write reviews, but because it is harder and harder to find accurate ones anymore, I decided to. Don’t listen to some of the negative reviews, this is all the info you need, got it??? It took 3 mins to install, if it takes you longer, please SLAP YOURSELF, seriously! The one review said the hole for the wires was too small, wrong hole jack! I have a feeling they were trying to put the wires through the top, vertical screw hole. This is identical to my old NuTone model LB12 except it is a more modern matte white color. Size, screw hole pattern and wire configuration is identical, covers are even interchangeable if you like. If you have repeat issues with a chime failing you probably have a shorted switch. I think some people reviewing this had that issue. Bottom line, it’s a cheap, effective chime. Probably could be a little louder, but good enough for us non paste eaters of the world! I should have took a before and after picture because what a difference. After 25 years of living in my home, this door chime cover fit perfectly. What a great upgrade.

This replaced an old mechanical doorbell and had I not also installed two Google Nest doorbells, it probably would have been sufficient. The transformer I had was 16V /10AV which just wasn’t enough to ring the ding dong chimes with the two Google Doorbells. The Google doorbell cameras worked fine, but no chime to the unit on the wall. I replaced the transformer with a 16V / 30VA. Now while the chimes work, there is a buzz/hum as it strikes the plates. I have no idea if it is just a cheap doorbell wall unit. Rather than go through the hassles, I’ll just leave it as is, for the seconds I actually hear the ding dong. Otherwise, my Google doorbells still work nicely.

I used the “NEWHOUSE Hardware CHM3D Door Chime”as the chime for my Ubiquiti Unifi G4 Doorbell Pro. This chime was listed as a “Compatible Chime” on the Ubiquiti G4 Doorbell Pro product page. After proper wiring (don’t forget the tiny Unifi Black Box), the chime functioned as expected. The item is very simple. There are no premium features, and no unique eye-catching design touches on the blank white plastic cover. The bell rings and the box becomes unobtrusive and invisible over time. I found no difference in the volume of the chime over the late 1980s chime the NEWHOUSE chime replaced. I wish the manufacturer placed the logo on one of the sides of the item instead of the horizontal bottom right position. I had to install my chime vertically and it would have been nice not to see the logo vertically positioned “on its side.”

The CHM3DCOVER, Door Chime Cover was a perfect replacement for my old chimes cover that no longer fit over the chime chassis with the addition of 2 WYZE doorbell (camera) chime modules. The black WYZE modules can be seen on the left and right side of the chime chassis in the picture without the cover. It appears from the perspective of the picture that they extend beyond the width of the chassis frame, but they are actually even with the frame and do not extend together beyond the 6 3/4 inches wide chassis. I do not have the specific make of the old chime system, but the old cover is depicted in one of the photos with the diamond pattern on the face of the cover. The old cover did not fit over the old chassis with the WYZE modules attached due to the wide bevel along the left and right sides and front to back of the old cover. The new cover is squared off along the left and right sides which eliminated the issue. The cover attaching dimensions were just as depicted by the advertiser to make it a perfect replacement for the old chassis frame (6 3/4 inches x 4 3/4 inches.) I highly recommend the product as an attractive and easily installed (just snap on) doorbell chimes replacement cover.

Bought to pair with the UnifI Door Bell G4. It does the job, the chime is loud enough. Installation is easy, quality is good and sturdy.

The chime is short and to the point. It gets the message across......answer the door! Ordered it to update from old doorbell thingy. Easy to install.....for the reno guy. My husband doesn't install anything!
