Eat This, Not That! 2013: The No-Diet Weight Loss Solution

Great Info
I have both this and the supermarket guide. Both are full of much needed information. Some of the information really is surprising. As in how they compare some dishes in well known resturants today to the eating out experiences of the 60's and below. It's amazing and a bit scary to see the break down of all the extra non food ingrediants (Such as "Chicken Flavoring" in chicken pot pie) that goes well beyond the simple ingrediants of meat and vegitables that we still expect when getting a meal in a resturant....The one short coming in the book is that each resturant or fast food joint only has about six menu items (Three on each side of the eat this not that cycle). I'd like to see many more in all the resturants they list. Hopefully some day will come when they mak a book that is basically a much more in depth listing of many of the most popular resturant's menu. Regardless if you're single or a family person...This is a good informative book....Especially if your job is on the road and you eat at resturants all the time (I'm waiting for the Truckstop Addition so I too can have a better guide...But seeing how most truck stops are putting in popular fast food joints I'm gettting a lot of info here)

You will learn a lot from this book!!
My mom has these books and one day I decided to read them, and let me tell you, I learned so much from this book!! Not only does it have the nutrition facts on unhealthy popular options versus the healthier alternative, the beginning of the book has so much information about nutrition in general. If you are someone who doesn't know how much of something to eat a day (protein, fat, fiber, sugar, sodium), you will learn it here! I think many times people get caught up on calorie counting but what I've learned is it's not just about calories. I have an independent business as a personal wellness coach where learning and teaching about nutrition is key. I loved these books so much I actually bought one of my customers this as a gift because I know the information is truly priceless! I know this sounds a bit over the top, but it's honestly transformed the way I think about food and grocery shopping or going out to eat! Invest in great books like this one and recommend them to others, you will change lives!! Stay healthy everyone! :)

Wonderful (and often surprising!) information!
This book is a HUGE help when you want fast food but at least want to make a more intelligent and healthy choice. There is invaluable nutrition information included and believe me, you are going to be shocked at the fat and/or salt content in some of your favorite fasties! Every single item is not in this book, but enough to give you a real idea of what is better for you to eat. I am going to buy a couple of the older ones because it's likely that the items I can't find in this version will be in the older ones. I wanted to find out if the tortilla soup at El Pollo Loco was a better choice but it wasn't listed. But anyway, here is an example. The worst appetizer is Outback's Bloomin' Onion, nutritionally speaking. A better and healthier choice would be Shrimp on the Barbie, and that would be fine with me! There are 1,949 calories in the onion and only 295 in the shrimp. See how great it is to know these things?!

75+/- LBS GONE. THANKS DAVID
MOSTLY BECAUSE OF THIS SERIES OF BOOKS. 75+/- GONE!!! I PURCHASE EVERY NEW ONE & OWN 10 OR (sorry for shouting) more actual books, as well as downloaded on my new kindle, duplicates of books I already own. So much easier than bringing 3 to 4 books from house to work to car. Love my kindle, too. These are my weight loss Bibles. Friends & family ask how hard it was, what did I do. It was so easy I still can't believe it! Am at a plateau, but have kept off (other than 5 lbs up & down) what I lost for for more than 5 months. Winter sucks! I also recommend Rocco DiSpirito, Eat This Now, excellent recipes & Hungry Girl(minus EVERYTHING being fat free. Low fat works if you're aware of your portions. Also, bought all my books through Amazon. Used like New. And every one was like new! For a fraction of the cost. Good Luck and Don't Give Up!

Has real value in choosing among many common fast foods and grocery items
The first part of the book is splashy stories (and fonts -- check the cover): inspiring weight loss testimonials, myths, worst foods, and lots of explanation. The second half of the book is organized around the Eat This/Not That goal. It goes through a long list of fast food places, giving the Eat This/Not That choices (four or so of each). It then covers common foods, cereals, condiments, snacks, etc. in the home. This is exactly what I wanted.I keep this book in my car to make it easy to make better choices when I stop at a restaurant or shop for groceries.

Good Read
I saw this book at my gym and I flipped through it and like how it looked, so I ordered it. It's got a lot of really good information, although I wish it was even more inclusive and had better explanations. For example, in the drink section there is one drink on the "Drink This" side in which all the calories and fat information is exactly the same as one on the "Not That" side. I can't figure out why one is worse or better than the other. Other than that, it's a great quick reference book.

Beware of food!
I really like these books and own several. However I wish I had ordered the hard copy this time instead of the Kindle Edition since I have a keyboard model and all the pictures were in black and white. It was kind of annoying to have to keep clicking on the tiny print sections to be able to read them. That being said, this book gives great guidelines for healthier eating. I am always astounded by the huge calorie counts in restaurant food and the ingredients in processed, so called "healthy foods." Yuck!

An interesting read, but the author flip flops sometimes.
I read these books from year to year to keep up with nutritional trends of restaurants and processed food manufacturers. Overall it is good information, but products rated well one year sometimes rate poorly the next, with no change to the product. Maybe the reason is competitor's improvement, but sometimes it just seems to be caprice on the part of the author. He can't write the same thing every year, or the book would not sell. Overall, it is an interesting read and helps one maintain discipline in one's diet.

Zero stars. Do not buy!
Why would anyone in the UK want to own this book? All the info is for US consumers on US products. If my time was not so valuable to me I would seek a refund. Can I assume that Amazon is also dispatching ice to the Inuit's?
