Good for skin and coat, easy on the stomach, could use added probiotics
We adopted an allergy prone old pitbull and he was already eating this food. We tried switching him to some food that worked for previous pets as this wasn't available near our home. Despite doing a gradual switch, his body wasn't having it and he was quickly chewing his paw pads off and having digestive issues. So we went back to Nutrisca and no problems since (unless someone helpfully gives him a treat). This food gets 5 stars on the dog food advisor website, no easy task. I like the kibble size- it's like cat food so at least a dog who scarfs his food is scarfing small food. I like the packaging, it seems relatively airtight. And the ingredients are impressive. No need to add salmon oil when I'm feeding salmon. One thing that the dog food advisor website notes is that this food lacks probiotics, an ingredient that can help with digestion. My dog has a sensitive stomach already so he needs all the help he can get. He farts his arse off on this food and they're room-clearingly stenchy emissions. I've add supplemental probiotics to this food and it has helped tremendously with the gassiness.Overall- pricey, but the dog's yeastiness is easy to keep up with when he's on this food, he's not eating himself like it's his job, and it doesn't mess with his stomach.

Best yet for Candida...
Have been battling candida problems on my dogs hind feet for years. Its my understanding that her breed is known for allergies and skin problems and I have tried everything the vet has suggested. Went grain free nearly 5 years ago and have tried all the brands. Grain free helped her dry flaky skin but the feet continued to be in a near constant state of infection. Finally read on one of the reviews here that all of the potatoes in most of the grain free foods can be a problem as yeast feeds on the sugars the body produces from the "carby" foods. Started her on the Dogswell chicken flavor first as it was a few dollars cheaper. She did better on it than anything previously tried and I thought that was the best we would do... Then I read about poultry allergies. I have no idea if there is really anything to it but I switched her to the salmon flavor and she is doing even better. We are 4 bags in now and she has had the fewest problems on this food than anything in all this time.

Excellent Dog Food
I can't say enough good things about this dog food. In fact, I have reviewed the Nutrisca Chicken and Chick Pea in the past and can now say, both my dogs - a German Shepherd Dog and Welsh Corgi - love the Salmon variety as well. Both the Chicken and Salmon are very high quality dog foods that my dogs thrive on. Before Nutrisca, I tried many high quality, limited ingredient brands but with all the others, one or both of my dogs did not tolerate them and suffered from allergic reactions, yeast issues, skin rashes, loose stools, etc. Within a few weeks of feeding this dog food, both of my dogs developed clear skin, good stools and shiny coats - and I know they are getting proper nutrition. I highly recommend this grain free and potato free product for anyone struggling with a dog allergy. Give it try, like I did. It is expensive, but in the end, with all the ailments gone, it pays for itself and my dogs are healthy and happy. It is definitely worth the price and I have found I can feed a little less because of the nutrition value and quality.

My nine-year old yorkie has bad allergies. He's prone to hot spots
My nine-year old yorkie has bad allergies. He's prone to hot spots, skin infections, and other issues due to his allergies and has been on immuno-therapy injections for over 5 years. The shots worked wonders where Benadryl and other medications didn't really help, but he still had a lot of flare ups while on another grain free food. Hot spots, ear infections, eye infections. It's been an awful rollercoaster ride with this pup. Nutrisca grain free/potato free food is the only food that has helped his allergies remain dormant on a long term basis. He hasn't had a flare up in over a year, and his injections have gone from every 4 weeks to every 8 weeks. I'm convinced it's the potato free aspect of this food that helps. This is a fantastic food for dogs with allergies. My jolly-giant yorkie loves this food and it has never caused him any stomach upset. He gets the salmon & chickpea kibble and salmon & chickpea stew mixed together. (Note: Chewy .com may have it for a lot less.)

Great food for dogs with food allergies!
I have one dog who is a picky eater and another puppy who is assumed to have a chicken allergy. I had spent a lot of money going through different dog foods when I was recommended this particular product. I'm picky about what I feed my dogs. It has to be good quality and rated well on dogfoodadvisor.com. I was hesitant that my picky dog wouldn't eat this, but after mixing it with one tablespoon of wet food, he hoovered it. The puppy enjoys it too and now we have two happy dogs after every meal. I highly suggest this food. Please note: The title for this food states "salmon/chicken" but it's a typo and is supposed to say "salmon/chickpea" - not chicken. There is no chicken, chicken fat, chicken meal etc in this food.

which was great but she still suffered from ear issues
My 8y/o chocolate lab has always had digestive issues, a very sensitive tummy, and a chronic ear infection. We discovered that she was allergic to chicken so we cut that out and went grain free and poultry free on Earthborn for quite some time, which was great but she still suffered from ear issues. A friend of mine who was a dog food representative at the time, suggested other brands, one of which was Nutrisca because it doesn't have potato but uses chickpeas instead. The yeast from the potato was causing yeast infections in her ear. We have been on Nutrisca Salmon and Chickpea for a year now and she is happy and healthy!!

I have Dobermans with very sensitive GI systems. I have been feeding another grain free, non-poultry dry food for several years and recently the price went up to a place where I couldn't justify keeping my dogs on it. We are a few days into this new food and so far so good! One dog was a little gassy during the switch, but so far there has been no loose stool - for which I am grateful!
