American Arwrology: The Science of All-Out Hand-To-Hand Fighting

Very Important Key: " American Arwrology " must be read alongside the re-print1940's Arwrology.
I have read the book the first time as an armchair reader. The second time, doing the hand to hand combat's body movements with the instructions contained in both Arwrology ( 1940's re-print which is dog eared by now. ) The third time was practicing repetitive from the Arwrology book. You have to buy the book Arwrology as originally released in the 1940's for this very reason so the thin red book " American Arwrology " finally makes sense. Both books are very essential for studying Arwrology.

Book Review
This book satisfied more than what I expected. I've been doing some research on CQC after having experienced training in classical JU-JUTSU for about 14 years and studying Krav Maga for about 2 years. At this point in my studies and training I have developed more interest in knives skills and no nonsense combat or less conventional approach. I've been studying materials from Kelly McCann, Michael Janich and Sammy Franco and now Bob Kasper. This book supports my conclusions and approach to my training, as well as borrowing more knowledge from these experts approach and their years of research in the subject. There is much to share regarding the impression I've received after reading this subject of Arwrology. Highly recommend this read for those who have trained in other systems and are still with the burning interest of hand-to-hand combat. They did not re-invent the wheel but, the founder of Arwrology being a physician and experienced practitioner in the classical system of Ju-Jutsu had the need to simplify the response to a life and death fight applicable to military and civilians alike. Applicable to an individual based on the person's weaknesses and or limitations as to body type, hight and strength.

Very good, but not complete Combative Self Defense.
Very good but not complete modern-day Combatives manual. Missing elements are multiple-opponent defense, knife defense, grappling and groundfighting. It does have a very good training regimen, power generation principles, strangles and combative strikes along with handgun defense. SCIENTIFIC SELF DEFENSE by W.E. Fairbairn is a far more complete self defense manual despite being over 90 years since its publication! There needs to be a PART 2 to this manual to add the missing elements.

Essential reading for combatives
This brief text pares down and distills the work of Dr. Gordon Perrigard, and filtered through the lifetime of experience of Bob Kasper and Fred Bauer. If you are familiar with the Gung Ho Chuan alumni, you know it is a who's who of heavy hitters. This book follows the less is more philosophy. There is absolutely no fluff. It is simple direct and brutally efficient. If you are familiar with Bob Kasper's earlier works, and also with Kelly McCann's materials, you will find much that is familiar. The book is an easy read. Putting it into practice will require dedication, and hard work. But if you are paying attention, it will pay off. It easily ranks among the best combatives manuals of the past. My only caveat is that the photos are a bit small. However, the book is not expensive, and is worth every penny.

Just what you need to defend yourself unarmed
This book is the perfect coursework to learn how to properly train yourself to combat violence with correct countermeasures for your safety. Fred C. Bauer is one of the most qualified and well trained people on the planet in hand-to-hand combat and this short booklet shows the breadth of his knowledge. This is the perfect starting point for combatives training, and a great addition to a collection of martial arts books.

All-out hand-to-hand fighting
An excellent addition to anyone's library of C.Q.C. hand-to-hand fighting instruction manuals/books. Dr. Gordon E. Perrigard's Arwrology is the bible on close quarter combat ... (American Arwrology) is Fred C. Bauer's condensed, yet extremely thorough version of Dr. Perrigard's system. A very informative instruction manual for either the soldier or civilian.HIGHLY ... HIGHLY .... HIGHLY ... RECOMMEND

Good Book
I was pleasantly surprised by the content of this book. Although I prefer the Fairbairn/Sykes/Applegate method, this book has a lot to offer. I actually think it's a better exposition of Perrigard's original book, "Arwrology".

Four Stars
An excellent manual on combatives. It is a good at adaptation and expansion of the original book.

Useful addition
Text heavy which I happen to like; if you're into "modern" martial arts and combatives, then this would make a useful addition to your library and sits well alongside Arwrology, All Out Hand to Hand Fighting (G E Perrigard)
