FINALLY
First of all, nobody told me this cereal was getting discontinued in the stores. Big mistake. I almost went Fruit Brute in my city chasing cars and stealing babies. I don't know who came up with the horrible horrible horrible idea to discontinue selling the physical embodiment of delicious. For the last few weeks I've been eating Cocoa Puffs trying to pretend like everything was okay. Well you know what? It wasn't okay. Eating Cocoa Puffs in place of Count Chocula is like dating a girl that looks sort of like the woman you love. You're only fooling yourself. Count Chocula is the best cereal ever. Period.UPDATE (9/23/17): Make no mistake about it, this is still the best cereal of all time. Don't think because I went dark for seven years after this review that my love for this cereal and its availability wavered in any capacity. On the contrary, my Count Chocula game intensified ten fold. When you're running counter ops on General Mills business decisions to limit the availability of Monster Cereal you have to get serious. I personally moved closer to the Canadian border with intent to cross into our northern neighbor and secure mass quantities of Cereal Heaven in the Fall months and traffic them back into the states to ensure my Monster Cereal supply is on point 24/7/365.For those of you who can't cross international lines to live the monster cereal lifestyle, this purchase on Amazon is a tremendous option. Four boxes in one shot is straight up hot fire. Personally this is enough to get Chocoboss through like a month but you may not be all about that lifestyle like me. Also hitting up the bricks and mortar stores immediately after Halloween when they foolishly slash prices on this golden commodity. This is your moment to stock up with intent to consume enormous quantities of Count Chocula well beyond Halloween."But Chcoboss, how does your cereal stay fresh?"Cool, dark, and dry storage spaces son. Seal and store for max freshness at the end of December until the supply lines run hot again at the end of August. Count Chocula in its purest form with max freshness is available in stores 4 calendar months out of the year (August to November) and the expiration date on the box usually is marked for Summer of the following year. When you get close to the that exp date, throw a sealed bag in the freezer and use it wisely. Play it smart and your Count Chocula supply will get you out of Winter and through the Summer."Chocoboss what do you say to people who say this cereal isn't what it used to be and then descend into ridiculous analogies to describe how bad they think it tastes?"Some people just have different opinions. That's okay because we have to live with that. Chocoboss doesn't mind if some people's palates are less refined and are incapable of appreciating the finer things. That means more Count Chocula for Chocoboss and all of his friends who know what's up. For those who are on the fence allow Chocoboss to share his ultimate tips for how to best enjoy your Count Chocula:For best results, consume the entire box within 36 hours. Do not open a box if you can not finish it within 2-3 days. Seal the bag if you plan to save some for later. Don't crumple the bag into the box. That's weak. Seal it.Only use cold milk that is fresh from the store. Milk that is expired or approaching expiration that is also above optimal temperature is straight up poor form. If you plan to hit the bowl with more milk mid snack then make sure it was returned to the fridge immediately after you first poured it. Chocoboss likes A2 beta casein milk with his Count Chocula for a happier digestion process. Only the finest cows should be permitted to have their milk grace your bowl of excellence.Last but not least, always serve your Count Chocula in the finest dinnerware you own. Obviously, this makes you look classy. More importantly that stuff needs to get used outside of the holidays and Monster Cereal deserves the same respect as the nicest meals you eat all year long.Good luck everybody and keep those Coco Puffs where they belong on the shelf at the store.

This cereal is only available around Halloween, and my son loves it. Kind of a fun Christmas gift for him

One of the best things about Halloween ( better than candy even! :)
Count Chocula cereal, along with Frankenberry, Boo Berry, & Frute Brute, the so-called " Monster Cereals ", are some of the best things about Halloween season.I can vividly recall when I was a kid how I would go to the grocery store and while I was running up and the cereal aisle, marveling at all the great sugar-laden and wonderfully-colored kids cereals how during Halloween this one stood out not only because of the funny " Dracula " inspired vampire on the carton but how it was not available AFTER Halloween, and you could only get it for a short time. When I would bring it home and taste it my taste buds were assaulted by the most wonderfully rich and delicious chocolate taste I had ever experienced in a dry children's cereal, even better than Cocoa Puffs and Cocoa Pebbles! This stuff is the O.G. of chocolate cereals and there is NONE OTHER LIKE IT ANYWHERE, and you should DEFINITELY but as much of it as you can during the Halloween season because you will kick yourself if you don't! Besides, your kids might go full-on Jason, Freddy, Chucky, Jigsaw or might even try to suck your blood out if you don't get it for them, not to mention that they will bleed your wallet dry and DEMAND you take them to the grocery store to buy them a box! You do want to make your little monsters happy, DON'T YOU???!!! BUY IT. ENOUGH SAID!!!

Legit product
I was worried buying this cereal online knowing that it is only released around Halloween, but it was legit and not expired. Pretty much the only cereal I will eat so I appreciate being able to buy it in packs of four.

Cereal is great, price is WAAAY too high
This has always been my favorite cereal, so when I read that it was coming back early this year, I immediately started looking for it. Amazon was the only place I could find it. I was really surprised to see how much the seller was asking for it, but decided to purchase it anyway. I don’t know that I would do that again, though, at least not at the ridiculous price it was being sold for. If it wasn’t as expensive as it was, I would’ve given this a 5-star rating because the cereal itself is fantastic. The price, though, was comically high.

It's exactly what you're expecting; just keep in mind how you're getting it
Ever since Count Chocula became a seasonal cereal (presumably so stores could squeeze yet another variety of Cheerios on their shelves), buying a box has become a form of Stocking Roulette: does your favorite store carry it? Is it in stock today? Did the person before you buy all 4 boxes of it? Will they get more, or do you need to check at another store? If you don't want to play that game, one alternative is to pay a little more and have someone else do the shopping for you, which is what you get here. The nice thing is that you can end up with Count Chocula months after it was (barely) available ... but remember that what you're getting is essentially the same thing that was stocked in October. Box cereal does tend to keep for months unopened, but if you're ordering this in April or May, you'd better be a big fan. I got my cereal in early April 2014 and had months before the "Better before" date (July 3, 2014 for my batch), which was enough time for me to eat all four boxes. It's not the same as being able to buy it year-round (thanks, General Mills, for taking away yet another of the products I like), and of course places that sell it have to get those boxes from somewhere (which generally means fewer boxes for us - I don't see General Mills making a bunch extra if it sells out quicker), but it's better than not being able to get it at all. And who knows? If enough of us keep the secondary market alive, maybe someday we'll be able to buy the Halloween series of cereal year-round again.
