This sure fit like a glove. It's a great way to protect your self from getting cut and protecting the integrity of the knife it self.

High quality leather sheath covers our meat cleaver and provides peace of mind when I’m digging in the drawer. Looks very nice.

This leather sheath measured from opening edge along to the stitching is 8" (20.3cm). My blade length is 8 1/16" (20.5cm), so 1/8" of the blade is not covered. My blades width at the center/widest point is 3 1/2", 8.8cm. Wider than that would risk cutting the stiches in use. Width from stitch to stitch is 3 7/8", 9.8 cm.Functions fine and is a decent value. The strap could be improved by adding at least 1/4" in length at the working end, easier to grab. Can add some tape to the inside to cover metal fasteners, but this is not a concern for me, as this isn't some kind of quick draw sheath anyway. I use this for a no.2 style Cantonese chef knife with a just over 2mm spine. Thicker cleavers for chopping through bones or other less precise work may not fit. This sheath will work best for thinner knives. Remember to wipe any debris off the blade after pulling out, keep a clean tool.

Excellent Chines Chef's knife. Very sharp. I use it over some high-quality knives I have when cooking. It is NOT a chopping Chef's knife, Do Not use it to chop bones.

I have a knife that is 3.6" wide. The ad states that the sheath will fit knives up to 3.9" wide. It will not. The distance between the stitching is 3.7". A 3" wide knife would fit nicely, possibly 3 1/4". Ad also states that it has a soft felt interior. It does not, it is plain leather. However, this is a well made sheath. It is top grain leather; about 2mm thick. The stitching is heavy thread. I am extremely disappointed that the size is incorrect. I am returning this for a refund.

I have a Dexter-Russell chinese vegetable knife and the thing has always been so sharp - and so big - its really tough to find a safe place to store it that won't get dinged by something else in a drawer, or brushed against by a finger which would be a bad thing. This sheath solves the problem. It also means I can transport the knife safely on a camping trip or picnic. A must have for this kind of knife.So what did I mean by "almost perfectly"? For the Dexter-Russell knife, there is a tiny segment of the knife that is left uncovered. Maybe 1/8 of an inch, or 2-3mm. Thats potentially a problem but having that small amount uncovered is a whole lot more manageable than having all of it exposed.
