RKFUK® - Replacement 2 Button Remote Car Key Fob Case with VA2 Blade for Citroen C1 C2 C3 C4 C5 Saxo Berlingo Xsara Picasso Keys and Fobs for Cars and Vans

A well-made replacement for my original C3 key that was worse for wear. I transferred the circuit board and key blade into the new case and the buttons worked perfectly to lock and unlock my car... BUT the engine wouldn't start.After a little research, it transpired that I also needed to move the transponder chip from the old key. This is a tiny black rectangular block that is separate from the circuit board and clipped in place in the corner of the back part of the fob. Without this in the new fob, the engine immobiliser will not cut out and the car WILL NOT START. Thankfully my old key was still in the bin. After gently removing the transponder and putting in the new case, everything was fine, but it was almost an expensive mistake!The first image shows the location of the chip. The second shows the (loose) chip next to the circuit board.

Product arrived in good time and works. Remember to transfer the old transponder chip from the original key (looks like a very small piece of plastic - but it is vital). I was originally hoping to just replace the half with the worn button presses, but for some reason they are a slightly different size to the original key fob and so I had to replace the whole lot. The Citroen 'V' decals were supplied separately and not attached to the key fob and comprised two cheaply made pieces of plastic, which didn't stay when pressed in. A messy glue job later negated the reason to go for this smarter looking key fob over the other cheaper choices. At least it works though and, apart from the decals, is well made.

The press-buttons were damaged on my old key so I just needed a new case. I transferred the old circuit board with battery and the car doors operated properly so I was happy until the next day when the car wouldn't start. There is a separate, small, black chip pressed into a recess in the key fob which must also be transferred.

Arrived pretty quickly. Changed the old key over into this new body within a couple of minutes and it works perfectly. You’ll need a small Phillips/cross head screwdriver to undo the single screw and retighten it when you’re done but that’s it !A piece of cake.

Brilliant product and very easy to fit - just be aware not to lose the spacer between the screw or the buttons won’t work. Could do with adding another to the package maybe.
