The Map: Finding the Magic and Meaning in the Story of Your Life

I got this book thinking it was a companion book The Enchanted Map Oracle by the same author, it was not, it was so much more! Personally I think everyone should read this book and I gave a copy to a friend. It helps you understand, deal with, and face ones emotions and learn to navigate them. It helps give perspective and help us understand that we are responsible for our own emotions and dealing with them. It helps us connect to our higher self. I read the entire book and I am now going through a second time doing the exercises. Very cathartic. If you are going through a rough time in your life there is much you can find here to help you process and deal with the emotions. If you are in a good place, it also helps you define that. The key of this book is to recognize where we are emotionally, take responsibility for that, and navigate through the emotions and set a direction for ourselves. Great easy read, and very therapeutic.

I am new to the practice of tarot. This is my first deck. They are quite beautiful. They are also accurate. I am not sure why this has come so naturally to me but as I continue to use the cards it is more and more a part of me. I hold them as much as I can and take them with me wherever I go even if I don't anticipate using them.It is good that I keep them with me because at work I told my colleague about my new found "personal direction" and she immediately asked for a reading. My very first reading. She was totally able to connect with the meaning of the cards and she was not negatively affected at all by the fact that I had to look up the meanings in the book.If anyone cares to respond, one thing I had confusion about was how to sit or face a client during a reading. I did not know if the cards should face me or face her. I just turned so that we were side by side and wasn't sure if the cards were all in reversed position or not because of this. Anyway,Then when I told my mother about them she also immediately asked me for a reading over the phone. I loved that. My mother and I have not connected so well in the past, but during this reading she was the most receptive to guidance in a conversation with me than she has ever been, EVER! She just told me what cards to pick. And before her, my sister also asked me for a reading over the phone but I didn't do it because I was not sure how to pick cards for some one over the phone. Now I know though and will be sure to oblige her. I also have another standing request from a friend who prefers I do it in person.I only share all of this because I asked the cards what my true intentions or direction should be in regards to doing readings for others. My interpretation was that I should just enrich my own life with the tarot and allow the opportunities to present themselves. Well, they are presenting themselves like crazy!This has been the biggest boost of confidence for me. I don't have to run to others to tell me what to do when I am confused. Now, I just consult the cards. They are a part of me now as an extension of my natural intuition.I love the deck. . .

I purchased this book because I simply love all of Colette's work - Wow she surprised me with this one. I found it the most delightful book I have read since childhood when I read Enid Blyton's noval "Faraway Tree" I loved the enchanted forest in which a gigantic magical tree - the "Faraway Tree" - grows. The tree is so tall that its topmost branches reach into the clouds and it is wide enough to contain small houses carved into its trunk. The forest and the tree are discovered by three children named Jo, Bessie, and Fanny, who move into a house nearby and, of course, me in Sunny South Africa.As a child I found refuse in these stories and read them to my children, who in turn read them to their children. Now we have "The Map" which along with "Women who run with wolves" has become on of the treasured books in my book collection.Colette has taken this one step further and introduced us to wonderful mysterical images along the journey of life. This book is absolutely wonderful and does indeed help us to find Magic and Meaning in the story of our lives.I have since bought a second copy which I intend to send to my dear sister who is in need of such a book. I have been writing to her introducing her to magic and mystery. She is trapped in a very bad place, searching for new meaning to her life. I think she has finally hit "Rock Bottom" I know that this book will be of great help to her, if her would just climb onto the seat of awareness the landscapes will become illuminated and she will see.I simply love the images Colette has used to take us on this magical journey of own stories.Thank you Colette for your insight and courage to write such a book!

I enjoy this author and have used her products in my healing work. This book is no different. I give the book a five+. The packaging was in a flimsy envelope along with a deck of oracle cards. The deck mashed the cover and pages of the book causing it to crack and lift. Not happy about that. I gave the packaging a three- giving my overall score a four.

Wat zou het fijn zijn als Amazon duidelijk aangaf dat het om een (door hen) geprint "boek" gaat. Dan zou ik het namelijk absoluut niet kopen. Geprint in Polen, in Frankrijk, het maakt niet uit. Golvende bladzijden en kaft, veel te lichte print van de tekst die daardoor niet fijn leest. Veel te hoge prijs voor een dergelijke slechte kwaliteit. Het mag de aanduiding boek niet dragen.

I am really enjoying this, so much so not leaving me time to read/journal as much! I’ve found so much about my life and my journey, where I get stuck, how I deal with obstacles and difficult terrain. How- if I repeat a pattern sometimes, I can relearn and not end up in the same place. Really enlightening and absorbing!

Absolutely! There is a variety and depth in these cards. They are "quiet sensitive" to the situation. They are almost alive. The book is powerful too. Blessing to all on your journey:)
