Quik Scratch Eraser Kit

I originally purchased the Meguiar’s Quick Scratch Eraser Kit a couple of years ago, and it has consistently delivered reliable results across multiple applications on our household vehicles. Most recently, I used it to correct a noticeable scuff on my wife’s white vehicle where the front bumper curves around the side an area where abrasions tend to stand out prominently. The blemish was visible from several feet away and had become a persistent eyesore. The value of this kit lies in its completeness: it includes the corrective compound, the drill‑mounted applicator pad, and a microfiber towel everything necessary for a controlled paint‑correction process. The simplicity of the system, combined with the effectiveness of the compound, allowed me to remove the blemish and restore the surface gloss to near‑factory condition in under 10 minutes. Process and Technique: To ensure optimal results and avoid introducing micro‑marring, I followed the below steps: 1. Surface Preparation: Performed a thorough wash of the affected panel to eliminate contaminants that could cause surface scratching during correction. 2. Pad Priming: Applied a generous amount of compound to the included foam pad to properly saturate it. This prevents dry buffing and helps ensure uniform abrasive action. 3. Spot Application: Added a pea‑sized amount of compound directly to the affected area for localized correction. 4. Low‑Speed Mechanical Polishing: Mounted the pad to a standard drill and worked the area at a controlled, low speed in overlapping circular motions. Avoided dwelling on a single point to prevent excessive heat buildup or uneven abrasion. Don't forget to feather the edges by extending the polishing slightly beyond the defect to ensure consistent blending with the surrounding paintwork. This smaller pad was extremely helpful on the curved surfaces compared to a standard polishing pad/tool. 5. Immediate Residue Removal: Used the provided microfiber towel to wipe away the compound before it cured. Prompt removal prevents unnecessary effort and ensures a clean, high‑gloss finish. Most light to moderate blemishes improved noticeably within 30–60 seconds of polishing. For more stubborn imperfections, an additional pass yielded excellent results.

I bought a guitar with a repair that had been sanded out in one direction leaving obvious scratch marks. This kit did a good job of minimizing the scratches. It took multiple passes and neither the guitar nor the drill would hold still, but it worked! There was a hint of haze but since the color was Olympic White, not an issue. Note that this is for scratches so fine, you can't feel them. It's closer to an aggressive polish than an abrasive, although there is a very fine abrasive at work. I'm certain this product is too aggressive for nitro finishes.

The Good (Why it earns 4 stars): This kit is an absolute winner for removing surface blemishes, oxidation, and light clear coat imperfections like fine swirl marks. The ScratchX compound is surprisingly effective and easy to work with. The inclusion of the drill-mounted pad is the key feature here—it saves an immense amount of time and effort compared to working by hand, distributing the product evenly and providing the necessary mechanical agitation without the expense of a dedicated orbital polisher. For those annoying, shallow scratches, it removed about 90% of them quickly, restoring a fantastic depth and clarity to the paint. The Not Quite Perfect (Why not 5 stars): The main reason I can't give this 5 stars is related to the "Quik" promise for anything beyond light scratches. If the scratch is deep enough to catch your fingernail, this kit requires a significant time commitment—you have to make multiple, slow, overlapping passes with consistent pressure. If you rush the process, or if you press too hard, the drill pad can occasionally leave minor hazing or buffer trails that require a final hand buff to correct. It's a powerful tool, but it demands respect and patience, which slightly contradicts the "Quik" labeling. Summary: This is the best DIY solution on the market for erasing light scuffs and perfecting a finish. It provides professional-level results for swirls and minor clear coat damage. Just remember that true, deep scratches are best left to a body shop, or tackled with careful, repeated effort using this kit.

Skeptical at first but it took out over 90% of a Grocery buggy 15" long mark on my GMC truck door and make a couple of deep scratches on the door better, not gone but better. These were pretty deep and I didn't expect them to come out. It's safe to say that if you run your finger nail across the mark and it doesn't feel like a deep scratch where the paint is gone this product will get rid of the surface marks. The only thing I wish was more clear was how to clean the pad when you are finished other than push it into a damp clean cloth. Definitely worth a try.

The product works great. It erased the scratched from an errant cart in a parking lot. However, my kit only included 3pcs vs the 7 pc set advertised. Disappointed in that regard.

I used the Meguiar’s Quik Eraser Kit on some fairly deep scratches on the fender of my Corvette and I was honestly surprised by how well it worked. I didn’t expect miracles, but the improvement was dramatic. The scratches aren’t 100% gone, but they’re very close — to the point where you really have to look for them now. For something that takes just a few minutes and doesn’t require professional tools, the results were impressive. The kit was easy to use and the instructions were straightforward. If you have scratches that are bothering you but don’t want to pay for a full professional repair, this is definitely worth trying first. Highly recommended.

I wish I had gotten an after picture! Ordered this after a fender bender in a rental car (I know I know) but this product managed to remove every single scratch in the picture minus the corner areas where the paint is clearly missing. I did need to use a drill to attach the foam circle to and a tonnn of elbow power but this product removed the scratches thoroughly and left the paint shiny again. 10/10 worth every dollar and I will buy again!

I don’t write reviews often, but wow does this product deserve its 5 stars! It’s only meant for surface scuffs, but it did pretty amazing against the oopsie I had against a cement wall. It definitely doesn’t get it all out, but it removed a good chunk of the damage and made it look a little better. It was very easy to use and attach to my drill. I used it to get some other surface scratches I had around my car too and it took those out completely. I unfortunately didn’t take before photos of the little scuffs, but they’re 100% gone. I highly recommend this product.
