The Umbrella Academy Volume 3: Hotel Oblivion

The overall physical quality of the book is mediocre, but the story is amazing. Would recommend.

If you've only watched the show and are looking for these to directly be the reference material you'll probably be disappointed for how much the show strayed (probably for the better in my opinion). If you are open to it not being like the show then it is still very enjoyable and worth the read.

Another great chapter of the Umbrella Academy series! If you’ve only seen the TV show, you don’t know UA.. Read the books! Hotel Oblivion is an amazing continuation of the story. And it gives you a little insight as to what might be coming on TV.

Don’t want to spoil so I will keep it brief. I love the comics and the show. I love that there are differences. I also like to support good work. This whole collection is in our library and the kids go to it every now and again to re read some portions to compare to the show. I purchased twice by mistake! Lol so yea I guess I would buy again!

If you've been following this series for awhile you'd know it has been awhile since a release of this series. Overall Castle Oblivion shows how Gerard has grown as a comic writer over his original occupation as an artist. He gives much needed character growth for the family, as well as expand the world, and leaves it on a rather interesting cliff hanger. Overall Allison(Rumor) gains a lot of growth as a character, as does Séance,and see what he has been up to post Dallas. Ben also makes it appearance speaking to Seance, clearly the show knew this was coming, thus took a lot of aspects, from what would be Hotel Oblivion as the character growth aspects, in this which predate the show. Vanya also gains growth as well, finding out maybe she was never really apart of the Umbrella academy to begin with. To put it into prospective this is a very good volume not a jumping on point for those that watched the Netflix series, sorry that would be the first two comics. This has newer aspects which maybe covered in season 2 or 3 of the show. However as a fan it's very clear Gerard is wanting to expand and grow this universe and with part four on the way soon, it would be nice to find out about that cliff hanger. On Gabriel his art is amazing and always has been, I've sung his praises enough in real life that a review on here won't make a difference, but yes the art is amazing.

This was another really fun comic from the series. I didn't like it as much as I liked Dallas, but it was still great and interesting and had a really cool ending. Anyone who's a fan of the comics has got to read this

If you find your way to this series because of the Netflix show be forewarned, the show is a milquetoast approximation of the books. I think this is a great series that defies most logic and plays to its own strengths of bizarre characters and disjointed storytelling. Impeccable.
