A sharp knife is so much safer than a dull one. The blade should east through the skin of a tomato, and never slide off the surface - THAT is dangerous. This sharpener does an excellent job to hone the blade and keep it sharp. The combination of European and Asian blade sharpeners makes it very versatile, and it's super easy to use and safe. *one criticism: It would be good if the sharpener surfaces were a bit farther from the plastic base to help you not touch the base with the blade each time you run it through... ** I'm not sure it is as good as doing your honing by hand, but if you are not skilled at honing then this is a good alternative that is pretty precise. And definitely run your knife through the "fine" set 5-6 times after each use...That will keep your knives very sharp, and safer.

After reading all the reviews, and searching for knife sharpeners of this type, we decided to purchase this one. It seems sharpens knives well enough for our house knives. I have a stone sharpener for our carving knives, and use this for our daily knives to put a little edge back on them. This sharpener is not for your best carving knives, but will do for your daily knives.

it is not good

This knife sharpener is exactly what I was looking for. I have a set of Senzu knives wich lost their sharpeness. This sharpener is amazing. It it easy to use and does a great job. The blades were restored to its original sharpeness in only a few moves. It comes with clear instructions and a safety glove which I think is a great bonus. The knife holder also has a rubber bottom to prevent it from slipping. Great value for money. Will buy some more in the future to give away to my cooking club members.

My Shun knives are no sharper after using this. Going to take them to Sur la Table where they have an affordable knife-sharpening service.

Gosh there are so many things i love about this Knife Sharpener. -I love how sturdy it is when i sharpen my knives. It doesn't slide around as I'm using -Awesome safety glove. No more little cuts!! -I love the 4 stages so i can really hone in my blades to the perfect sharpness -I tried it on my hunting knives and it works perfect. So much better than the other stone that i was using I will be definitely be buying more as gifts! I would highly recommend this for anyone wanting a quality, safe, easy to use blade Sharpener.

Does not work well.... Knifes do not sharpen in this device.

Easy to use, comes with cut protective glove which I was a nice surprise. This amazing knife sharpener, also fixes the cutting edge of the knife, I also tried it on my porcelain knives and was blown away at how well it worked., the anti slip base works wonderfully. I am thankful I decided to order this instead of throwing out my favorite knife. I highly recommend this... no more dull knives for me.
