Thermometer Care instructions...Rinse with warm water after each use in chlorinated or salt water/keep from direct sunlight?
The good:Quite a large thermometer with large print. It seems quite accurate so far in comparing it to the old thermometer I'm replacing (but still works)The bad: it doesn't float. That's a silly oversight. The absurd and ridiculous instructions for CARE: Hmmm..still trying to wrap my head around these instructions taken directly from the packaging. After all...Don't pool thermometers usually belong in pools or pool Spas most of the time? Isn't that their main purpose?Product Care (taken directly from the packaging)To ensure useful product longevity, be sure to rinse equipment with warm tap water after each use in salt or chlorinated water.Salt water, chlorine, bromine, and algae control chemicals will cause product deterioration. Do not leave any swim products in direct sunlight for prolonged periods.Ok...so how many of you ( and me) take the time to remove the pool thermometer from the pool each time we use it.? Isn't the idea of a pool thermometer to leave it in the water inside the pool so we know what the temperature is?And of course, it's almost ALWAYS going to be exposed to prolonged periods of sun if you have a pool, and of course it will also be exposed to either chlorinated or a salt water pool sanitizing system. Crazy!So... I've decided to take my chances and live dangerously. I am leaving this new pool thermometer in the pool all summer long, in the extremely hot Texas over one hundred degree heat where it will also be subjected to full sun most of the day. We'll have to see if it lasts one summer or falls apart. My last thermometer which was a very cheap one costing around the same price ( but a different brand has lasted several years))This thermometer is by Poolmaster inc, Sacramento, USA.

Good large and nicely built Thermometer for your pool
It works and its big, unfortunately its kind of hard to read during certain times of the day. When the sun is shining (when you use your pool most) it can be hard to read the red. Its not hard to give it shade with your hand and see it so its not horribly hard to read.4 stars for the build, size and price.

Works...Just Wish Thermometer was More Durable
Long term review, after 14 months of usage in Salt Water Pool. The string deteriorated after 4 weeks so I had to replace with long zip tie. The bottom cup glue deteriorated after 9 months. Fortunately, the thermometer tube is still in tact and takes accurate temperature. Because the thermometer is near the surface of the pool (I have my tied to the vacuum hose) the hot Texas sun makes the thermometer read higher temp. Just be prepared to get some long Zip ties to fasten.

the plastic on the bottom causes it to float up to the surface if there is any water-flow in the pool.
The protective plastic piece on the bottom catches the slight circular water-flow in the pool from the output ports and the negatively buoyant thermometer then lifts to the top of the pool water like a kite. I will probably glue some lead or stainless nuts into the bottom to help it stay sunk below the warmer surface layer of the water. Easy to read.

Thermometer
I thought it would be easier to read than my other thermometer. You have to hold it just right in the light to read it. I did like the fact that the numbers are bigger.

Good product at a good price. I swim in open water in the winter in Pensacola, Florida. I like to know the water temperature.

Four Stars
I like it, but would be better if it was not so attractive to growths.
