If you have standard plates and you need or want a trap bar just get it. I was worried about ordering a trap bar without seeing it first specifically if the inside was too small. I am 6 ft. tall and have no problem doing squats or deadlifts. I got the silver or chrome bar and the welds and finish are all very good. I like the swivel handles because they allow your grip to align to your shoulder width. One thing to note is that standard plates being a bit smaller in diameter than Olympic plates means your starting point is lower to the ground so watch your form on initial lift. This is a great bar at a great price. I have had some disc/vertebra issues in the past mostly caused by not understanding anatomy. Stuart McGills book "The Back Mechanic" and believe it or not DEADLIFTS have cured my lower back problems. This bar helps me to keep strict form and concentration. I am very happy with this purchase!!

Due to COVID, my son wasn’t able to go to the gym to prepare for lacrosse season. He was dying to lift, so we put together a little gym in our basement. We got him the basics for Christmas, like a bench, rack and olympic weight set, but of course he “needed” more weights and bars. We’re making him buy the rest, so he’s been slowing adding gear as he gets the money. He was thrilled when he finally had enough to buy this Hex bar. It’s a great addition to the gym. This is an extremely sturdy bar that's well fabricated with clean, strong welds. The frame is heavy duty steel with a chrome finish. The finish is well done with no bubbles or chipping. I weighed the bar on my bathroom scale and it came in right around 41 pounds. The bars for the weights are made for 2 inch Olympic weight plates. It comes with 2 spring clips to keep the plates secured onto the bar. They are easy to use and fit the bar perfectly. There are 2 separate handles that you can use when lifting. There are foldable handles and handles on the bar, both of which are textured for a better grip. My son really likes that the handles fold in, so he can store it in his bar rack. I really like that the Hex bar is made to help reduce injury, especially of the spine. For teenage boys, it's not always about doing things the right way, but seeing how much weight they can lift, even if it hurts them. 🤦‍♀️ The bar is rated to hold up to 800 pounds, but they've only got up to around 400 pounds so far. It's working great and holding up nicely. This is a solid, well made piece of equipment that has exceeded our expectations.

The Olympic Hex Bar is exactly as advertised. It's been hard finding an affordable hex bar that's 1 inch plate compatable. GYMAX came to the rescue! It has a pretty decent weight to it prior to adding plates. It's wide enough for me (6'2") to squat without restriction. I only gave it 4 stars because the provided clamps do not fit, which could be an issue for those who may need them. Luckily, I had some already.

I love doing deadlifts with this thing. Very heavy duty. Quality. This is my first trap bar (none of the gyms I’ve been to have had them). But now I can deadlift with decreased risk to my lower back. I love the way that exercise feels! The rotating handles are what sets this bar apart— makes it easier to store against a wall and adds a bit of comfort on your grip and shoulders while performing there w deadlift. Super pleased with my choice, as there are a lot of trap bars out there. Someone mentioned “rust”. Mine came with this weird coating of brownish, red iron dust all over the product and the bar. Could have been rust, I’m not sure, but it wiped off easily with a damp paper towel and hasn’t returned. Honestly it might bed be some type of protective coating so it doesn’t rust during shipment. Who knows. There also was a small, pointy bleb of metal sticking out on the handle that I intend to file off, but haven’t yet. I also saw someone wonder if it’s good foot tall people. I’m 6’0 and there’s no spacing issue at all. The worst thing about this is it came with an ad to download an app and enter your bank account info to enter a drawing. Looked for the app, was obviously not reputable, and it felt very scammy. Not sure what to think of it other than it has nothing to do with the great bar, so I won’t dock a star for that. Not a perfect product, but almost perfect, hence the five stars.

This had been a game changer for my workouts. Squats, Deadlifts and Shoulder Shrugs have become more concentrated with noticeable results. I feel it helps target specific muscle groups more effectively. Highly recommend.

Stated weight of bar is 35lbs. Feels every bit of that weight. Much better then trying to balance a straight bar with 120 lbs. on your neck when doing squats. No balance issues. Highly recommended for leg work outs and calf raises. Very solid and well constructed. I purchased the 1in. plate copy and love it. Handles work great as well. If you don't mind the price, this is the bar for you. Look at others then come back to his one. I am very pleased.

It's very sturdy, fits perfectly with our Olympic bumper weights. The traction on the grip is great for heavy lifting. The best part are the handles. Unlike other bars, they are not fixed. It has plenty of foot space for me. Quality product.
