Favorite version of the 3 Little Pigs…book arrived in perfect condition!

This is such a fun retelling of The Three Little Pigs. I love that the story is more than just the wolf blowing the house down, but he tries to trick the pig into leaving the house with him. The pig outsmarts the wolf every time. It makes it a more full story than the basic huff and puff and blow the house down, the end.

Don't be fooled by the other reviews where people are freaking about the scariness level. After reading some of these reviews I was concerned that I'd permanently scar my kids by reading them this book, but I remembered it fondly from my childhood so I took a chance and ordered the book anyway. From the very first read, my 5 year old and 3 year old sons have LOVED this book! It's one of our new daily driver bedtime books. The wolf eating the pigs is not depicted in the pictures, it just says "and he ate the second little pig", which is sort of what you'd expect a wolf to do, and it didn't bother my kids at all. Don't be fooled into buying some watered-down version of this book; the Paul Galdone version is the version you want.

As a preschool teacher, I have read a few different versions of The Three Little Pigs, but Paul Galdone's is the best traditional version. SPOILER ALERT: Some of the animals are "eaten up" in this story. This is the more traditional version than the versions where the pigs simply run to the next brother's house. The illustrations in this book are beautiful. This story was loved by all in my preschool class and then children asked to hear it again and again. This is a great story for retelling and working on beginning, middle, and end as well as problem/solution. Yes, I would definitely recommend this book to parents and teacher of young children.

This is the version where the wolf eats the pigs, so in retelling it to my kindergartners I would change the wording to say, "And the little pig ran, ran, ran to the brick house of the third little pig." And at the end where the wolf falls into the pot of boiling water, I would not tell the kids that they ate the wolf. Having said that, the illustrations are great and the story is just the right length for young children.

Love this line of books. The cover is timeless and I’ve loved adding it to my children’s book collection. Bought another for a gift because I love it so much
