Impeccable customer service
I haven't shot my mini-14 with the accustrut installed yet so I cant comment on accuracy. Just want to review the manufacturer of this product because their customer service is phenomenal. There was a slight issue with one of my clamps that caused the strut to be misaligned with the barrel, apparently this is a manufacturing flaw that happens on rare occasion. These guys responded my email within like 4 minutes and it was 8:30 pm. A couple of days later I had two brand new clamps at no cost and now it fits perfect. Regarding tightening down the screws, I'd like to share what one of the employees told me, for peoples general knowledge. Basically he told me not to get carried away tightening down- if the clamps are touching in the middle then its too tight, that really helped judging how tight to go. The strut is nicely manufactured and it also looks sweet on my rifle.9/17Have shot my mini a whole bunch of times since the original review and while I wouldn't call it a tack driver the accu-strut tightened it up very noticeably.

You will be pleased
This item is excellent. The installation is easy and straightforward, no cutting or alteration is needed to use it. It improves accuracy significantly -- Shaved ~1" off my groups. My Mini-14 is a 580 series. Leaning against a tree, I can consistently hit a target the size of a grapefruit at 100 yards**. If you own a Ruger, especially an older Ruger, then you will benefit from this device. If you are shooting an older, notoriously inaccurate Mini-14 (I believe it is the 180 series, though I could be wrong because I haven't read up on it recently), then you will notice a more drastic improvement in accuracy. However, it will likely never be as accurate as a 580 series, not even if it was compared to a 580 series without a barrel strut.**It is important to note that I've also had a trigger job on my Mini-14. If you are unaware as you read this review, then please let it be known that the trigger assembly for the mini-14 is VERY poor without modification. The trigger will have about 1/4" of creep before releasing the hammer, which will affect your accuracy a great deal. If you are interested in using this rifle for serious hunting or target shooting, then it is in your best interest to have the trigger professionally stoned and adjusted by a professional gunsmith. There is a lot of discussion about this topic on the internet, you will be able to find the information easily.

Very cool
Aesthetics: I purchased this item for a Ruger Mini-14 (580 Series). I wanted my rifle to replicate an original M14 as closely as possible. The Strut Mounts pictured (above) are for a 180 Series and the rear Strut mounts flush to the Gas Block; The 580 Series has a Tapered Barrel and thus has two "hanging strut mounts". This may appear slightly more tactical than conventional. I am not too happy about this and am considering removing the rear strut mount to have a single, front mount. I did bore the Gas Block for a nice, tight fit but I do not know whether or not the Strut helps with accuracy of the rifle.Function: I have not fired the rifle since adding this product, so I will not comment on the functionality of it. From what I have learned, it is a necessary addition to the 180 Series Mini-14's. Some people will argue that Ruger corrected this problem (post 2005) but I will not speak for anyone else. I have noticed that the front end of the rifle has become much heavier; however, I also added the A2 Muzzle Break simultaneously. This heavier front end actually gives the rifle a nice feel, one that I welcomed.

Works as advertised
I put this on a new mini 14. At 100 yards I had at least a 20% reduction in group size, maybe closer to 25% . It was easy to install. I used the loctite on the rings right off the bat. It's has stayed in place. It's a little pricey, but I feel it was worth it.

Absolutely works!
I was skeptical but this thing absolutely works on a 581 series. Brought the group down from 3 to 3 1/2 inches to 1 3/4 inches. It will loosen after about 50 rounds and stop working if you don't Loctite Blue the screws. Really like this gun now that it is accurate. According to the web site, adding a flash hider will also significantly improve the group due to the weight on the end of the barrel, so that will be my next step.
