Amazing, concise, life-changing book!
This book has been hugely helpful to me, and I want to address why that is because it will probably help in your decision to order it or not.1.) I saw in some of the other reviews that they mentioned most of the material is available online for free, so you need not get the book. This is not true. The model itself is mentioned in podcasts and in passing, but the worksheets and more detailed information is no longer online. In fact, the website that used to exist for it has been entirely replaced. Additionally, even when those things were online, I can see from other people's descriptions that this book is more detailed, as concise as it is, and these added details helped me sooooo much. Without them, I couldn't have grokked it.2.) I think because of having read many other self-help books first, this book naturally melded into my mind. It occurred to me that I found it at the right time for me, and having found it any sooner, my brain may have not been willing or ready to accept it and to go all in the way I needed to in order to benefit. What I am saying is, if you're full of doubt, cubism, and resistance, of *course* it won't work for you because you (for reasons that you shouldn't be ashamed of) aren't ready to be committed to the hard work of changing how you think. Maybe you will be later, but trying to force it when you aren't ready is silly. Maybe buy it and save it for when you really want to make a big change. Maybe read some of the many other materials she recommends in the front of the book by other authors first (so helpful that she has that list!). The book won't do the work for you on its own. You won't read it and magically change. You have to do the work on yourself. And, like I said, maybe even a year ago, I wouldn't have been ready mentally and would have been guilty of tossing the book and saying, "Hmph, it doesn't work." But it does. I would've been wrong, and it would've been lashing out because I wasn't ready. This book is wonderfully simple, with no words wasted. As a person short on time, it's perfect. These are tools I hope to pass on to my toddler as she grows and I will be using for the rest of my life. Why not have every tool in your set possible to enhance your own existence? :)

Freedom
Brooke Castillo is a master at expertly explaining the way we can use our thoughts to manage or situations and feelings. I didn't know I had this kind of power in me, that my mental strength could be unlocked and used to improve and elevate my life. Brooke's book does so much more than help you understand weight loss or loss of control in situations... she helps you focus on what is important for you and those around you so that you're not only yt? Left feeling better but those around you are in a better state thanks to your approach to the situation. Kindness begets kindness, which can start with yourself. I love this book and listen to all of her podcasts - some multiple times because they are so genuine and full of wisdom. I am so thankful for people like Brooke Castillo and her love for helping others reach their ultimate potential. Thank you for sharing this with us, Brooke.

Take a good look at this book
The reason I'm giving this book 5 stars is that it is a very clear compilation of what you would find in the books of half a dozen or more authors. Brooke Castillo is very clear that is exactly what she is doing, and provides the information to go deeper into any or all of her instructions, but sometimes what you need isn't deep philosophy, but just clear basic directions on how to actually do what needs to be done. This book is filled with worksheets to get to the thoughts that are making you miserable, the feelings that are tearing you apart and the actions and results you want in place of what is already there. And a really clear explanation of how the Law of Attraction really works, and how to really work it, in practical terms.I read this book with my journal open. And I wrote and wrote while I was reading it and there was a lot to write about. I've used some of the worksheets already and will use others over time.

Good, Lots of Worksheets
There are a lot of worksheets in this book which makes the size of the book a bit misleading. She has good ideas though and melds the wisdom, experience, and framework of six different experts in her work. I felt most of it came from Tony Robbins and Jim Rohn. She's funny and I liked her energy. It's mostly Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT, which works, see J.K. Rowling among others). A good book for a quick refresher on CBT with all the New Age/Thought/Affirmations which makes the work more open to those who want to avoid psychology/psychiatry.

This book really it home for me
I really love this book. Brooke Castillo has read and refers to many of the self help books that I have read, and ties many of the ideas together: Byron Katie, Tolle and others. But the main point of the book is the model she proposes on how and why to change one's thoughts and thus the results one is getting. The model is very straightforward and simple to use, though change is not always easy. I've used the model to work through several situations that upset me and i waamble to turn the situation around completely. I am working on using the model to manage my weight as the author has successfully done. This is a practical, engaging and highly useful book. I love it and refer to it often.

The fact that we choose what we think may be "duh" but the deep understanding that we can continually coach ourselves to choose
Brooke's methodology is simple and totally relevant. The fact that we choose what we think may be "duh" but the deep understanding that we can continually coach ourselves to choose alternate thoughts to feel better and do better in life still seems miraculous. I'm a huge Martha Beck fan and follow many MB-trained coaches, and while I am all about the wild and mystical, something about Brooke's practical and accountability-driven approach really resonates with me. Brooke puts the practical in practical magic and I am so grateful I came across her body of work.
