Timer is only approximately accurate and not easy to set.
Works fine for the price.

Good item
Looks like it will solve my problem of feeding the dog when I work late

Difficult timer to set
If you need your pet fed at a specific time, don't buy this feeder. Its hard to accurately set the timer. If you don't mind it popping open "around" a specific time, then it will work. I need to sleep in the morning and this feeder is too hit & miss for my needs. Also ice pack that comes with it is totally useless. It defrosts in about an hour.

Good
This product is decent for the cost. I had to buy 2 for my cats, so I went cheap. One works everything and the other sometimes glitches and does not open. Not a huge problem. The timer is a little hard to set/off by a little. Recommended if you are on a budget

Great simple product that works as expected, but hard to be precise with timer.
This product worked surprisingly well. My expectations were low because of the price, but it does exactly what it is supposed to.Our cats both were able to eat from it when it opened in the morning, and had to work a little harder than they do when eating from their regular bowl, but I actually thought that was a good thing. Our cats both have flat faces, so many food bowls make it challenging for them to eat from but they didn't really have any difficulties with this. The reason for only four stars, is that I bought two because we have two cats, but the timer is just a simple analog timer, a dial that you turn to set how many hours until the lid opens. It is difficult to be precise with this which is an issue for us because if they don't both open at the same time, one cat will eat from the first to open and then wait for the second and eat that too, leaving nothing for the second cat. If they open at the same time, they both get a chance because they are not in the same location. If you have just one cat, or cats that share (I doubt it), and all you need is something cheap and simple to open on a timer, then I definitely recommend this product. I have tried three for three days now to set the timer so that both open around about the same time but they are always at least 5 minutes apart so I will probably try one of the more expensive feeders that has more precise control over the timer. We did not use the included ice pack (under the lift-out tray) but were happy that it was included in case we wanted to use wet food. Since we didn't use it, I don't know how effective this product is at keeping wet food cold.

Good 48 hour timer
I have 3 of these for my 2 cats. These are great when we spend a couple days away. I like the cold pack they come with and also use several flat ice trays to keep it fresh for 2 days. It was hard to find a 48 hour automatic feeder so I'm happy I found this. I love to watch them open on my home camera and the cats have a surprise.

Loud, easily dumps food when you pick it up, not very accurate timer
It has some challenges. It is better than nothing though, and we did get it work for our needs, but read on: those needs might be different than yours....We use it to avoid being woken up by our two cats at 4 a.m. We don't like to leave food out all night long: it's bad for cat's teeth to do that. So we had been feeding them once early evening, and once in the morning. But, our cats would wake us up at 4, knowing that "breakfast is coming soon".This gadget did fix the issue, but with some work:1. Loud ticking. I can't just leave it on a shelf in the kitchen between uses, the ticking is too loud, so we set it in the spare bedroom room during the daytime where we won't hear it, then before bed we fill it with servings of food, set the next open time, and put it on the kitchen floor.2. If you grab the unit at the front to move it or pick it up, the 2 trays EASILY tip forward dumping food all of the floor. I haven't figured out a fix to this, other than using tape to tape the trays in place, which defeats the purpose of having washable trays.3. Timer isn't very accurate, we just added an hour to the dial: to get approximately 12 hours we have to set it to 13.4. IF you use moist food, the trays too deep for cats to easily get food out of the corners: they eat what they can easily reach, and some is wasted if you use moist food.Note: two cats MIGHT fight over this: the two lids don't always open at the same moment, luckily our two cats have found a way to get along about that at 4 a.m.!

works great as long as no raccoons
worked great for my outside cats for morning feeding until the raccoons MacGyvered it open.

My dog managed to work out how to open this in about 3 minutes
A great idea, but won't work for all dogs. I have a very stomach driven puggle and with food inside the unit, he proceeded to paw away until he eventually moved the timer and got the feeder to open. He repeated his new trick several times to prove how clever he was. Back to the drawing board for timed feeds around my shifts.

Functional
We feed wet only and got one of these because it has an ice pack. We use it for mid-night feeding to keep the beast at bay - also for when we take day trips. The biggest negative is the battery situation. There's no indicator that the battery is low - it'll just not open. In fact, I would bet that most people who left a review that this item doesn't work, just had a low battery, and I say that because it happened to us too. We thought it was broken until we replaced the battery. You can hear it ticking so you think it's working but it just won't open when the time comes. If you're planning to use this when you take a trip, just be sure to put a brand new battery in there before you go.With that said, it's a fine little device. It gets the job done. No the timing isn't 100% accurate as it's done by hours, but it's close enough. If I go to bed at 10pm and set it to go off in 5 hours - it'll go off AROUND 3am - and the food will still be cool. It is meant to keep the food cool for six hours - obviously that depends on how warm of an environment it's in. For us, it happens to work. But again, if you're going on a long trip, it won't keep the food cool very long. Would recommend if your needs are fairly basic.

Good, but not an accurate timer
It's great if you only have one cat, or if your cats are in separate rooms. Once you try to feed two cats with the timer, things don't quite go to plan. The timer isn't accurate and therefore one cat ends up eating both portions! (Or so they told me when I got back from work...)It's accurate give or take an hour.Easy to clean as the little pans lift our easily. I'd be wary of using the ice pack with my kitten as he loves to chew anything and I'd worry he'd chew the ice pack and poison himself! (The food pan could be easily knocked aside by a well placed paw!)If I just had one cat, or cats that only eat their own food then it would be 5 stars. I've had to deduct one for the accuracy of the timers meaning that with multiple feeders it's impossible to synchronise them.If it's vitally important that your cat eats at a certain time due to medical issues, this would also be a problem.

An absolute lifesaver for our mornings!
Our cat was driving us crazy in the mornings. Somehow, her schedule got mixed up, and she started wanting her morning portion of wet food at 5am! Incessant yowling and running leaps on us in bed were not a good start to our day—nor for our neighbours! This feeder was a godsend! Before bed, I place the food in it with the provided gel cooler pack. The timer dial measures number of hours, and when it gets to zero, it springs open. I’m not sure if it opens at the exact set time (we’re usually still blissfully asleep at that point), but it’s quite accurate give or take a few minutes. The cat now gets her food early in the morning, leaving us in peace to get up when WE decide ;)

Setting the timer is easy and I don’t find the ticking troublesome.
I bought 2 single feeders as my cats don’t like eating right next to one another. They both worked fine and let the cats be fed early in the morning (and let me stay asleep a little longer!). Easy to wash the bowls.
