A card sized storage source for private information - To this we've come
This is the age where everything is in the Ethernet. Medical files are now on computers - a fact that is supposed to make us feel better that everyone can see our medical information in an emergency, we bank online, we purchase over the internet, we share private and personal data with the world in a manner that is now, as we have discovered, free to the world populace with just a bit of hacking.Yes, this card works - if you do not have a MAC. Using a Windows program it is fairly easy to load all the information you wish to store just by following the directions. For those unfamiliar with the abbreviation RFID (used so often on the description of this card), `Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is the wireless non-contact use of radio-frequency electromagnetic fields to transfer data, for the purposes of automatically identifying and tracking tags attached to objects.' That supposedly means that the Medic iD Guard has a special layer that stops RFID scanners ad Cell phone scanners so that is supposed to make us relax. The card is designed to give access to emergency personnel in case we are found unconscious! So yes, technically the card works (if you have a friend with a Windows PC) - you can register your driver's license, credit cards, Passport ID - all that important information on a card the size of a credit card. Time will tell if it is truly safe.....Grady Harp, August 14

Worth it for the app alone
Kimberly R. Norton's helpful August 3, 2014 review thoroughly covers most aspects of this card. Actually, after spending a lot of time with the review sample that I received, this is a solution more than a mere card.First, a caveat. This card requires a reboot of a Windows XP system before it's recognized as a removable disk drive. In a real medical emergency this could be an issue. Granted, XP is obsolete, but Murphy's Law would probably go into effect if you were in a time-critical situation. Plus, this is strictly a Windows based solution. Now for the reasons why I love this. Foremost is the app itself. It leads you through the creation of medical information that is needed if you were being treated while unconscious or unresponsive. The text files can be read by any system, as well as uploaded to your phone. I have labeled my data card to note that the information is also on my smart phone - just in case the card fails for some reason. The heart of this solution is the app that created the medical data and the files that it produces. The card itself is clever in that an 8GB flash drive is contained in the form factor of a credit card. The USB 2.0 plug slides out of a protected channel that does not appreciably add to the thickness of the card, so it will easily fit in a wallet. In addition to the medical data this solution provides a scanner guard that you can use to sandwich your credit cards between that and the Medic ID Guard card. What this part does is guard against RFID identity theft, which is a very real problem. It does not take much to thwart thieves - wrapping credit cards in aluminum foil will do the trick - but this solution is much cleaner and is actually a side benefit. Prior to getting this solution I had been using RFID Blocking Secure Sleeves. This solution, however, is a lot more convenient.Bottom line: there are some things that I do not like about this solution, but the benefits greatly outweigh them. As I mentioned, the app alone is worth the cost of this solution because it allowed me to create complete medical data in a structured way. I could have never done that on my own without additional hours of research to discover what information is actually relevant.

Wonderful Invention!
When I received this product in the mail, I instantly became over-excited. Firstly, the package arrived right on time and was securely packaged. The USB easily slides out without creating any catches on the card itself or anything else. It plugged into my laptop without a hitch and immediately popped open the edit files. The instructions were clear and understandable. When I opened up the file, I couldn't believe just how much information I could put on that little drive and how much customization could go into it. It even asked me to fill out the specifications of my weight, height, and even let me add a personal photo for identification. I personally have been in a situation where I was unconscious and an ambulance was called. If you live in a town like I do, you fear for your life when you are taken to our hospital because they never seem to get anything right. (This is not a joke). Thankfully that time, my mother was there to inform them of everything but I know that cannot always be the case. This little card will be a little miracle in my wallet to carry my medical information with me and probably make it much easier at the doctor's office! I unfortunately don't have a way to test the RFID protector as I don't have any type of scanner device, but at least I know my medical information is protected. Set up is painless and simple and I would highly suggest this, especially for elderly people who could use the extra help in notifying medical staff of their problems. It easily fits in your wallet and easy to plug into a computer to retrieve the data.Disclaimer: **I am sworn to honesty by my reviews. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion. All opinions are my own under no obligation to the brand or company.
