LEGO Minecraft The Cave 21113

The Cave is a great starter set for your Lego Minecraft collection. The set includes a fantastic buildable Spider mob, as well as a Zombie mob. The official build affords several levels of play, featuring ores, ladders, torches, TNT, and more! The materials represented are primarily stone, lava, and water, but for such a small set, it actually allows for several configuration versions shown by Lego to help with ideas. It makes for a great little display to keep in the normal Lego play area or perhaps a great companion piece on the computer desk to remind you of great adventures you may have had exploring the caves of Minecraft. The only negative thing I can really ding the set for is that Lego should have made a Cave Spider for "The Cave" and not used a standard Spider mob. At this time, however, Lego still has not made a Cave Spider mob. This set also could be purchased several times over and configured in several different ways with the official builds to create an even bigger adventure. As an AFOL, a parent, and a Minecraft player, this is such a great little starter set that really shows how you could expand the adventures using Lego and the imagination.

It is very easy to build. The instructions to build it are simple to follow. The instructions give you two different builds with this 1 set of blocks. My daughter enjoyed building this. It's hard for me to review Legos because I am not the one putting them together. This set was for my 9 year old and he says that he likes it because it's fun and came with little Lego MInecraft figures. This set is regular size Legos. It is not one of the Micro Minecraft sets. It came with two Lego mini figures (Steve and a zombie) and a spider. The instruction book shows two different ways to put this set together. My kids seem to like these regular size Lego Minecraft sets versus the micro sets because they can combine them with their other Lego set. We own probably 100 Lego sets and this one, according to my kids, was medium of the road set as far as putting it together. I have three boys and all they play with are Legos. I don't think we have ever been let down by Legos and this is another great product from Legos.

I think this is a good starter set for Lego Minecraft. It isn't too hard to put together, and it stays together for the most part. I followed both sets of building instructions included to show how it looks [see images 1 & 2]. It comes with spares of the really tiny pieces in case you lose them. The only flaw I find with the set it that there are too many parts with only a single nubbin- when these parts are put in the middle of a stack of bricks (which the instructions tell you do do in several places), the bricks stacked on top of them easily pop off [see image 3]. You want them to pop off easily so you can "mine" them, but if you find the set is coming apart to easily, you can rearrange things so the single-nubbin pieces are only placed on TOP of other bricks, that way everything stays together. I recommend pairing this set with The Iron Golem set (21123). They are both smaller, cheaper sets- together they cost about $30, and you get a good mix of bricks and figures. I ordered this for my 8 year old nephew as a gift for Christmas. He's big into Minecraft the game as well as the figures. He loves building lego's so I figured this is a win win for him. I ordered this shipped and sold through Amazon and paid less than $15.00. I feel this is a great pricepoint considering it is a lego set and it is minecraft based. Includes 249 assorted LEGO pieces as well as 2 mini-figures with assorted accessories: Steve and a zombie, plus a spider The set also features a waterfall, lava fall, coal, iron, redstone, gold and obsidian elements, plus TNT, torch and a ladder. Lot's of game play and building options for the littles. They can build this set and play and also leave it on a shelf to display. Comes as seen in stock photo. I purchased this item full price and was not compensated for my thoughts. Fun to build: Great product

Came in box, well taped, pieces comes in sealed bags. Kids love Lego sets and Minecraft, so this was well suited for my daughter who is 9 and she loves this kit. There are tiny pieces so it is not suited for small kids, because of choking hazard. Helps kids be creative, what they build, kits like this gives them ideas of what they want to do with pieces of other Lego that are not a specific kit. Sent this to my nephew as a birthday present; he loves Minecraft and Lego, so I figured it would make a good gift. Sure enough, he LOVES IT! We had tons of fun putting it together, then using it to recreate the rest of his Minecraft world (with some help from the rest of his collection). On a somewhat more analytical level, it's easier to take apart and reconfigure than a "regular" Lego set; the individual elements are pre-built into Minecraft-esque cubes before construction of the set proper, and the Minecraft theme provides a more organized framework for imaginative play than the "chaos" of a loose bin of Lego elements. tl;dr, this set's theme establishes a set of "expectations" that the child (of any age) can emulate and use to direct their play, and have tons of fun doing so! If you have a kid in your life in need of a little "structured imagination," this Lego set is the perfect solution!
