Sony DCR-HC24E Handycam MiniDV Camcorder [20x Optical Zoom]

Having recorded many a movie of my kids growing up, I was gutted when my original camera stopped working (I had not looked after it). I was delighted to be able to get hold of the same model. Since then, many a hour spent looking at memories past.

Happy with this just shame didn't come with instructions and was scratched quite a bit

I bought this camcorder two months ago because I was looking for something small and compact.It takes photos as well as making videos and allows the mini dv tape to be burned on CD/DVD. If you do want to burn it on a CD /DVD make sure you have writing software, Nero is good.The battery supplied is 90 mins so you have to charge it alot but I recommend purchasing the 9 hour battery.I have given the camcorder 3 stars because the zoom becomes blurred when you zoom in too much, so basically it needs to be a bit more focused.Overall I found the camcorder easy to handle and operate, it's worth its cost.To be honest, i'm tired of it. The effects are limited and it just isn't what I want anymore. I want something that I can fiddle with.

Great camera for the money. Bought as a gift for my 12-year-old, it has proved easy to use and produced good footage. It has lots of features for the price and the touch screen controls are brill. It is small enough to take with you without being too fiddly to operate. Gave 5 stars as for the price is fab.

I bought this camera after reading the previous reviews, but I must admit I regret my decision buying Sony camcorder.The camcorder itself is ok for that price but difficulty comes when to save the videos on computer or burn CDs. The software provided does not work. It keeps giving error messages like, IM06006 CDR drive does not exist, Picture Package failed to write or error check the connected device.I called various times to Sony support, they refused to help, and instead keep arguing "there is nothing wrong with the camera and we do not provide support for the software".The software company Pixella is pretty useless in providing the support.I would recommend better not to buy this camcorder, you will regret. Also you will be very disappointed from the support from SONY.

This camera is great for the amount it costs, and te touch screen is excellent asit reduces e need for bulky buttons. It is incredibly lightweight and compact, idea for almost any situation.The only trouble i have had is that the paint scratches and chips VERY easily, a day in my bag completely ruined the side.

This camera was bought for a reirement gift for a work colleague. They were delighted with it and have been able to use it since on a number of occasions.

I was surprised at how easy it has become to use a camcorder. everything is on screen and makes for ease of use.The picture quality is good even for stills and battery life, even for the small battery that comes with the machine. Using the manual controls is straightforward and gives very acceptable results.The only crticism I would have is about image stability when using the zoom. Even then you can overcome this on playback by stopping the tape and getting a clear and stable image.The HC24E is a fun camcorder but produces excellent results.The supplied cable means that transferring images to tape, cd or dvd is simple and effective especially when using the remote commander.I thought the machine would be good but I was surprised at how good.
