Appears Sturdy and Well-Made
I needed to add some heavy-duty handles to a 20"x28" griddle that I use with both a standard 30" gas stovetop as well as a natural gas outdoor grill. This griddle is made of 3/16" mild steel and is pretty heavy (30 lbs.), so I needed a handle that was strong and secure. I thought about welding these handles to the griddle, but I also wanted to be able to remove them if necessary. These handles are made from 1/2" mild steel stock, so I ended up attaching them to the griddle with four 10-24NC x 5/8" button-head bolts. A 10-24NC bolt is about 3/16" in diameter, so this did not weaken the handles. It was relatively easy to drill 3/4" deep pilot holes into the handles and using a tap to make 10-24NC threads. I used a high temperature thread locker on the bolt threads. So far, it seems to be working. This is not something that gets a continuous load on the handle and threads. It is temporarily used when the griddle is moved.

Strong weld on handles a must have
This is a great quality handle I have used (5) of them on my smoker. The metal is great quality and welded very nicely to my grill. They also shipped out fast!
