Great little light, BUT...
First off : I do like this light, and it's even more robust than I expected. The BUT: It didn't really work when it arrived. The "signal" feature on this light would not complete a circuit and did not function. I had to disassemble the switch assembly (simple enough, really) and modify the existing mechanism. Now it works perfectly and is ideal for what I need it to be.I bought the light for nostalgia + I needed a small, inexpensive angle-head backup light for my camping pack-out.The filters are great (but fragile) - I plan on leaving the red filter installed default, for preserving night vision. Without the filter installed, the light is pretty bright (for what it is) - I would guess it to be maybe 20-30 lumen. It's bright enough that even with the filter, it functions well at CLOSE range - up to 10-12 feet. Perfect for reading maps, getting to and from the loo at night, etc... This IS an LED flashlight. You do have to insulate the battery compartment, as the batteries rattle around something fierce otherwise. I just cut the amazon bubble pack (in which it arrived) into strips, and and lined the compartment. Works fine.I wouldn't consider this unit water resistant - maybe splash-resistant - though I'm thinking of installing an o-ring at the battery compartment to make a better seal. It does come with a loose-fitting, flat o-ring that failed the first time I installed the batteries.ALSO - For those of you, like me, who may be wondering about this light or the "other" Military LED angle light offered on Amazon, this is one to go with with. I purchased both - I immediately returned the other. From what I can tell, these are at least distributed from Germany - I can't find any markings on the product itself as to the origin of manufacture... but they are solid. They ship from the UK - service is friendly, but it takes a while to get here (US).Bottom line: I ordered three more for friends - I'll do the switch/battery compartment mods for them.Cheers.

nice bit of nostalgia
I had one of these many years ago WW2 or so. this one take it's place nicely. It's definitely not a replica but it has the right shape. It gives a good light/beam and it's an LED

Junk
Cheap and on switch needs to be messed with and taken apart everytime I try to use it just to get it to work. I just wanted a durable flashlight and this is not it.

I got it a day early, and it is even better than expected

Description is misleading
The description says it takes D batteries but it actually takes AA. The flashlight seems solid enough and I’ll update the stars if it holds up but it’s not the flashlight described

Flashlight Can Be Upgraded With an LED, Nite-Ize or Dorcy
When I saw this flashlight, I had to buy it. Unlike its older brother, the TL-122, this flashlight takes AA batteries and is more compact. Just like its older brother, it has four color filters and a spare bulb in the tail cap. When I got the flashlight up and working, the bulb was not impressive. It barely puts out five lumens of light, which is intended to not destroy your night vision while you are in the dark, hence why they are called moonbeams. I first used it to read a book in the dark when I do not wanna be bothered, the batteries lasted around four days between two hour intervals, which was quite a disappointment. So I went to Lowes and bought a $16 Nite-Ize 74 lumen LED bulb. It was one hell of an improvement. The bulb was so bright it can blind you, and since the time of this writing the batteries had yet to run out. Satisfied with the results, I posted several pictures of the flashlight on Reddit's /r/flashlight subreddit. Got a lot of positive comments, and then one user named u/legitimatemustard dropped this critique:"They're not supposed to be super bright for the intended purpose. They are intended to provide just enough light to move around, read maps, or signal without totally destroying your ability to see in low light/dark and without drawing a lot of attention to yourself, the battery is supposed to last a long time, and they can be used hands free. I got mine issued to me at Fort Leonard Wood.Edit: Not to take away from your upgrade. I think it's cool. It's just that the military had a pretty specific purpose for this type of light in the original design."I ended up buying the Dorcy 30 lumen LED bulb in response to this comment. I could not find it in the stores so I had to buy it online. The bulb is still significantly brighter than the incandescent, but way dimmer than the Nite-Ize. I will keep this bulb in the tailcap in case I need a lower light.
