This is the same test kit I used as a caregiver for my father almost 20 years ago. It was accurate then and now I'm using it to keep track of my own cholesterol levels. Very simple to use if you can follow basic instructions and it gives very accurate results.One thing I've learned is that virtually 98% of the time a person can change their cholesterol levels with out drugs. My spouse has been looking for this brand of cholesterol test kit for years and had thought that it was discontinued. The outfit it was purchased from had stopped carrying them. It's disappointing when one thinks highly of a brand or product and cannot obtain it again. I've never used any such kit before and never felt a need to. However, since our insurance company only covers cholesterol testing once every five years and high cholesterol runs in my family, I decided to try out such a kid, when I saw it listed on Amazon. But I am scared to death of needles. I found this kit painless, quick and easy to do. Further, I like the results I got, and my spouse is happy that I have found a favorite brand on Amazon and will be ordering kits in the future.

I am very impressed with this product. With health care being so expensive these days. I opted to buy some at home test products to keep an eye on my husband.He works for himself and cannot afford health insurance and honestly my job charges me way too much for me and our son as it is.The test is simple as long as you follow the directions and take your time. The lancet was the only complaint and the product lost one star for that.Honestly the lancet just wasnt sharp enough and thankfully we had my brother in law around to borrow a lancet from his glucose meter.Otherwise I recommend this product as a way to keep an eye on the uninsured. Even if it is off by a few points - a ballpark can obviously keep anyone on track.

The first test I used did not give me any reading even though I followed the exact directions. The second one did. So that was disappointing that I only got to use one. Emailed the seller to see if they can send me back one and he basically said I was doing it wrong without saying it and directed me to a phone number. I wasn't, but ok. What good service! lol. Never got a replacement. Anyways, the second one that did work gave me a reading that was 30 points off the actual lab I got the week before. If I ever buy again I will keep in mind that it is a 30 point difference in order to keep track.

Gives you a very good idea if your numbers are going up or down while you are working on your diet to bring cholesterol in line. New information says we shouldn't be overly worried about cholesterol as long as it isn't crazy high - for instance I found that adding a high fiber cereal and some beans every day into my diet brought the numbers down and I eat grassfed beef/fat/cheese all the time. This test is always somewhere in the range of what the doctor's tests show. May not be to the letter accurate but they work pretty well as far as I can tell.

Maybe I did it wrong, results were WAY off.... didn't realize this, but it is just as cheap to get a cholesterol check at the clinic!

Must follow instructions carefully -- be sure you have a big enough drop of blood! The result gizmo where you read the numbers can be hard to see -- be sure you have plenty of light -- whole process is more like reading the little Ketosis strips rather than reading the digital numbers from a modern glucose meter. That said, the results given are certainly "ball park" values and this package contains two complete tests for just under $20 -- a real deal, and you don't need a doctor's appointment, no phlebotomist, and no waiting for results.
