I'm surprised by the performance of these watches. They work great, have good range and so far, great battery life. They also give off a warning beep when battery gets low. I haven't tested them for full range, however, I use them with my son, and 2 blocks away with houses in between calls were still clear.- Vox function is quite sensitive at lowest level too, so I avoid the feature. Had initially planned on keeping it active on my son's watch (4 yrs old) to make things easier, but it activated way too often.- On my unit, manual didn't make much sense, functions didn't match on the watch as advised in the manual. Setting the watch took a bit for me to figure out. - Straps don't seem like they will last long, but not a concern at the moment.

As shipped, did not work. Instructions all but unintelligible. Cheap and easily broken. Do not buy under any circumstances unless you want to truly waste your money.

The only reason for the 3 star rating is one of the talkies was mis-wired. The scan button and the PTT button were reversed. Otherwise, the units work great. Didn't get a chance to really test battery life as I returned mine. It is a little annoying to have to pay an extra two dollars to get new ones when the first ones were defective, but I'll suck it up and pay the difference because the specs on these are better than the cheaper ones. Plus, I think they look cooler! I wish they would have worked correctly out of the box!One other thing: You will see other reviews talking about lack of range. The watch is a uhf radio. UHF radios work best point to point with no obstructions. If there is any terrain, hills, trees etc, the range may not be as good. That's a function of radio waves and not an indication of a defective radio/watch. The radio waves don't "bend" around obstructions at those frequencies.

My parents use these to keep in touch while they are out shopping or are at home but not together. This has helped my elderly parents out a lot. The instructions almost require some sort of engineering degree. When we initially used it on channel one we had truck drivers replying to us lol. So one needs to find a different channel and turn sc (scramble) on. There are channels that are for emergency only so make sure to read the manual to insure you are not using one of those. It runs out of battery after a days use so charge it overnight. One more thing, it's not a dependable watch (likely due to power drain or whatever who knows) so unless you set the time on it everyday it just isn't practical to use as a dedicated watch.

"I have fallen and I can't get up", that's what I am using them for , for when the wife goes down in the cellar or outside. We tried walkie talkies and they would be put down while she was doing what she needed to do, same with cel phone or home phone wireless. This is directly on her and I keep mine to the side of my area when I sit. This way if she falls and she does, due to a medical condition. I can get to her and she doesn't have to scream for my help! JUST WHAT WE NEEDED!

Unfortunately, this item does not work. One of the "watches" does not work consistently. Because my son bought this with money that he saved up over some time we tried for a while to get it to work. We even asked a tech -savvy friend to take a look. Because we tried to get it working we went past the 30 day return window and are basically stuck with non-working "toy" that my 10 year old spent $50 on. He also purchased the square trade warranty - because this did not result from an accident but the item "came this way" they would not open a claim. I usually would contact the seller directly and not leave this in a feedback section but I could not find a way to contact them. :-(

We wanted something simple for communicating while riding bikes. These are perfect! Just for fun, my husband walked about a quarter mile away & we could still hear each other just fine. These will be handy at an upcoming festival when there's no cell service. Much better than expected! I'm going to search for a more comfortable earbud, but these are really ok. I'll add that the VOX feature works pretty good & has the same delay that expensive devices tend to have. Love these!

Watches would not transmit voice. They would squelch, but no voice could be heard. One of the chargers arrived broken and rattling. After the batteries died, one of the watches wouldn't take a charge at all. Needless to say, I requested an immediate refund after only having these for a matter of 2 hours.
