Missing pages, but aside from that, very hard to navigate for a cookbook
I use cookbooks a lot to learn new recipes and to use existing ingredients in new ways. This cookbook is among one of the harder ones to navigate to find recipes containing specific ingredients. The better cookbooks I have encountered include a list of recipes, either at the front of the book or preceding each chapter. This helps the reader quickly glean the contents of the cookbook and go directly to recipes of interest. The "Cook This, Not That" book has chapters (e.g., Breakfast, American Classics), but no summary list of recipes in the book. A good cookbook also will have a great index that will help the reader find recipes that contain specific ingredients. This cookbook does have a index, but it is not as inclusive of the main ingredients as one would hope. The result is a cookbook that takes far more effort to use than it should, given this is a cookbook marketed as "easy and awesome." Even worse, I recently discovered that pages 193 - 200 were missing. It looks like the pages had been ripped out. Note-- I was buying what I thought was a new cookbook. There are some positive aspects to the book for those looking to reduce calories and who are learning about lighter ingredient substitutions while trying to break the habit of highly processed foods. For me personally, I have many other lower calorie cookbooks and magazines with recipes that are easier to find, easier to read due to better formatting, and more appealing in terms of the ingredient list. Other cookbooks also make it easier to use the same ingredients in multiple ways throughout the week to make grocery shopping easier and reduce food waste. Even if I had received an intact cookbook, I would still rate this book low with 2 stars.

Good stuff!
I own several cookbooks and I cook at home very often. This book is becoming my "go-to" for just about anything I feel like eating. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and everything in between can be found in this book. It is well organized and full of tips and techniques to make even the novice cook look like a genius. I've tried several recipes and all have been great. Quit throwing your money at corporate restaurants that serve you nothing but junk. Cook for yourself and your family and lead a healthier lifestyle while saving money. The price of this book is very reasonable; you may want to get two and gift one to a family member or friend.**update 8/19/15**I let a friend borrow this book several months ago after she was over for dinner and ate one of these meals. It was recently returned to me and I realized again what a great book this is. Yeah, some of the calorie numbers may be off and I even have to tweak recipe measurements sometimes. But in the end, you're still getting flavorful and healthier meals than you would at chain restaurants. The difference in sodium levels is also eye-opening; great for people with high blood pressure or other conditions that require lower sodium in their diet. And I can't forget to mention the abundance of culinary tips and techniques this book offers. All in all, an excellent cook book.

Great Resource!
This book has a ton of useful information on just about everything food related. I've only thumbed through it so far, and haven't tried any of the recipes yet, but there are several that sound great and I can't wait to try them out. The only downfall I see to this little book is some of the recipes require things I will never already have on hand, and some require ingredients that I would have to travel to a specialty store to pick up. Most of them won't require anything special though. That said, my plan is to start at the beginning, and work my way through, making the recipes that I can do without having to go out of my way. Some items they require are used again in other recipes so not a big deal to buy them as they will get used, but others... I'd be better off skipping them completely.I'm definitely glad I picked up this book, and am looking forward to cooking with it. The portion sizes seem to be fair as well as I can figure form reading ingredients and looking at number of servings, so I don't think I will be starving anytime soon!

Nicely done, but lacking some essential information
First, I've noticed a few reviewers were skeptical of alleged calorie counts. I tend to agree, although I have nothing to go on other than many years of counting calories. More importantly, to me, is the fact that each recipe listed contains only minimal nutritional information (each recipe has calorie count, grams of fat, including the saturated fat grams, and mg of sodium per serving) What I was most interested in was the number of carbohydrates per serving, which greatly influences many readers dietary choices. Had I have known the author would skip over this information I would not have purchased this book. That is the bad news. The good news is the book contains numerous delicious and easy to prepare recipes with great pictures accompanying each one and each also contains a relatively easy list of necessary ingredients needed, and a handy calorie comparison to similar offerings of various chain restaurants. It is a great resource for easy to prepare meals , each chapter color coded on pages edge for quick access. I only wished the author included the number of carbs per serving.

A LOT of information, but great book!
This cookbook is packed with TONS of really good information....IF you have the patience to sit down and read it all and absorb it all. Which I don't. I haven't cooked out of it yet, but as I was flipping through, I love that they have sections for every meal, not just dinner, and they are all things I would probably normally make anyway, just with better variations. I don't have to worry about running out to the grocery store and buying $50 worth of groceries for the recipe. I have a lot of the ingredients in my home already. Also, I LOVE the section about spices and different cooking methods for meat and things. Like I said, for $12 bucks, it is a WONDREFUL investment! I left a star off because there is just SO much information and its difficult to keep up. I feel as though it could have been laid out a little better for us "flippers" and folks with ADHD.

Nice but too American for UK
It has some handy info on Burger King, McDonald's and TGI Friday but for the most part this is too geared towards the USA to be that useful in the UK.
