Excellent flavor retained after Decaf process done this way - my absolute favorite Decaf of any I have tried to date!
This is one of four decaf coffees I have tried which have been prepared using this water based method and sold by Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC - Mexican, Colombian, Sumatra and Indian Monsooned. I am very very pleased with the result. With the exception of the Indian, all three of the other coffees form this company prepared by this method, while of different flavor being different coffee beans, are excellent in flavor and quality. All of them were shipped with the roast date/exp date so I have an idea of how recently they were roasted. The Indian Monsooned, had no date, and had other differences from the other three which made me wonder if I had a bad batch. When compared to a high quality non-decaf coffee bean the roasted beans have noticeably less 'coffee odor', but when prepared as French Press or Espresso all of these decaf roasts (done with this water method of decaf) have had excellent coffee flavor and lots of Crema. I intend to get these again and try other flavors from the same company decaf from the same process. EDIT March 03 2015: The ones I first tried from this company (Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC) were the Colombian, Sumatra, and the Mexican SWP Decaf coffees. I have since also tried the Indian Monsoon decaf from the same company. The Indian Monsoon did not have a roast date or an expiration date, but it had a good aroma to the beans. However, it has a very fleeting (although good) flavor and absolutely no Crema whatsoever (see review PHOTO). I prefer the Mexican, then the Colombian and Sumatra and the Indian last of the four Decafs. The first three of them are really great, but the Indian has a shorter lived and less pronounced flavor than the other three so I do not like it quite as much. I will most certainly buy again all four of them, as they are all good in their own way with the Colombian being exceptional. I have also now tried four other Decafs prepared with supposedly a similar water based process, but I have not found them to have the same flavor as these - although some are close. I prepare all of them with an Insulated French Press which keep the brew temperature within about 203 to 193 during the brew process, and I do not add anything to the coffee (not milk, sugar, or anything else). I get Coffees I like with anything from about 20 to 30 grams per 12 to 16 oz of water. If I am comparing one coffee to another I will measure exactly, but normally I'll just grind about 25g give or take and use about 13 to 15 oz of water. I have yet to get a result that isn't great with these coffees. p.s. I use decaf coffee because it helps with blood glucose levels - and caffeine does the opposite.

Woke up to a delicious smell.. Paniced and ran to the kitchen thinking i left the oven on. Nope! delicious coffee.
Late last night when i was up tending to my 18 month old son i ground some beans and loaded my coffee maker set to brew just before i typically wake up. When i woke up i smelled a rich nutty scent in the air that sent me into a panic. "What is that smell? Oh crap! Did i leave the oven on?" upon which i bolted out of bed to the kitchen ready to confront a possible disaster. And then with a bead of sweat on my forehead i came to the realization... "Whaaa that was the coffee???" At which point a felt a complete dolt, but in awe of this coffee. This would be my first experience with Swiss water process decaf (that i know of). I have to say this is the first time i can truly say that while i could still tell it was not regular it was far and away the best decaf i have had. Really found myself enjoying my first cup and going back for more. A beautiful nutty rich flavor that can stand proudly on its own, but i am really looking forward to making some reduced caffeine blends that no doubt will impress. The only negative thing i will say is not really about this coffee since its a medium roast, for what it is its great. But i do wish Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC. made a Swiss water process roast that was a bit bolder and darker than this. I feel like its missing that bold pop you get from the classic dark roast. But as a said, a small gripe easily solved by blending in some tasty medium dark regular beans. A FAR preferable problem than the trendy over roasted semi coffee flavored garbage that so many people flock to. In summary this coffee is a fantastic and delicious deal you shouldn't pass up. Happy sipping!

I've tried several others.
I've tried numerous Swiss Water Decaf's .. Some more expensive.. So far(just reordered) this coffee has the best flavor profile and balance for me.. Nice and smooth, low bitterness and the right roast. Even when I increase the volume for a stronger cup it maintains a very rich flavor and not burnt or bitter..

great coffee
After my local coffee shop started charging upwards of $19 a pound for coffee, and then I had to wait in line for 15 minutes to buy, I decided to try online vendors and stumbled across this brand. I've been using for over a year. Very consistent and great flavor. Recently I switched over to some of the decaf. The columbian SW is excellent, particularly when brewed extra strong. All the great flavor without the caffeine. Recently I tried the ethiopian decaf and the description is accurate. Kind of a cherry taste. Not really too my liking, but I could see where a lot of people would enjoy it. What I would really like to see is this company offer a sample pack so you could actually test the coffees without splurging for 30 bucks for 2 lb for something you don't like. I really been enjoying the yiracheffe and and the columbian SW decaf. As mentioned the ethiopian is true to the description with a cherry chocolate flavor, but a bit too fruity for my taste. Packaging is very good. and coffee is always fresh. Timely deliveries. please offer a sample pack!

Excellent Decaf, possibly even better than caffeinated.
This is the second time I'm buying Decaf from Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC. I was very impressed by the Honduras, and now am also very impressed by the Columbian. Forget any preconceptions you've had about decaf being tasteless. I use it for espresso capuccinos. It always extracts easily, and flavors are distinct. You can absolutely tell the difference between the Honduras and the Columbian. I dare say I might even like the decaf more than the other caffeinated beans in my pantry. Which is good, because I don't have to worry about going overboard with caffeine, but bad because I'll be spending more on milk and decaf beans. Oh well. 10/10 product. P.S. Buy the big bag, and throw it in the freezer. Take out small batches as needed. Stays fresh forever.
