Evercool EC4010M12X 40mmx10mm fan
This item is Evercool EC4010M12X as described on this page -> [...]On the plus side, it is relatively quiet, it has a higher peak fan speed (5000RPM) than other fans in this class, but what is important is that its airflow CFM (cubic feet per minute, or the ability of the fan to "shift" cool air) as well as PIH2O values (the ability of the fan to "shift" cool air around tight surfaces - like the CPU radiator blades for example) have very respectable values: 5.22 and 0.1.I ordered this item for my mini-ITX board to cool my daughter card (3x Gigabit LAN interfaces) and since I already had a ready-made bracket coming with that board when I purchased it, I thought to get it fitted with this fan (the bracket actually has a space for 2 such fans).I was a bit undecided whether to order EC4010M12X or its "little" brother - EC4010L12X, though I went for EC4010M12X since it had a bit more punch. This fan does the job perfectly, though for my specific needs I should have probably gone for the "less" powerful EC4010L12X as my fan speed barely moves from 1500-1800rpm in order to keep my system board temperature within working parameters (around 40-48 degrees C during summer and with peak loads). Why? Because with EC4010M12X I could hear that fan even if it runs at 1000RPM (it is a gentle hiss, but still...).For a simple comparison, the less-powerful EC4010L12X I run to cool my CPU, I can't even hear that fan even if it runs 2.5 times faster - around 2500RPM. OK, it has slightly less Airflow CFM and PIH20 values, but that is still sufficient - at least for my own needs. So, in summary, EC4010M12X does the job perfectly, though if you are like me, a perfectionist, I'd go for the slightly less-powerful EC4010L12X if that is acceptable.I should also point out that the only difference between the two fans is in their peak speed - at much lower speeds (like in my case) the two fans are performing more or less the same, with the exception that EC4010M12X is slightly more noisier - it has a gentle hiss even at idle speeds ~1000RPM - compared to EC4010L12X which has no noise whatsoever.
