Great Audiobook Benedict Cumberbatch Reads!
This is a kind of long audiobook story, it really is just a reading of Casanova's journals, BUT it is read by Benedict Cumberbatch. I know all you Sherlock fans and Star Trek fans who have seen him are undoubtedly drooling right about now, and rightfully so. He is wonderful reading this, it does have a handful of risque bits, but it's so soothing in tone since it is just his reading basically a diary. (Technically, it's a memoir.) Well, I was completely satisfied by this, and I believe it would be worth it to hear not only the story, but Benedict's voice lulling you off to sleep. I'll leave the buying up to you.

Worth a Listen
I'll be completely honest: the reason I'm giving this five stars is because Benedict Cumberbatch is a fabulous narrator! The story wasn't terrible and there were moments of humor that I enjoyed but overall I wasn't blown away by it. However, it is worth listening to just to hear Benedict read. His voice is truly lovely and expressive, conveying emotion flawlessly, from wistfulness to outrage and everything in between. He has managed to take somewhat mediocre material and make it fascinating. Mr. Cumberbatch is a very talented man and that certainly shines through here. If you're a Cumberbabe, be sure to check this out!

Enjoyed Ben's reading of this old classic.

Don't bother
Trash - unimaginative and utterly boring. Salacious I suppose in it's debut, today it is simply extraordinarily dull. A monumental waste of time.

This was excellent. I listened while driving which may not have been a good idea. Only complaint is that it just ended. I was expecting more.

He Could Read the Phonebook
This is amazing. Benedict Cumberbatch's voice is perfectly suited for audiobook narration, and the fact that he's reading this book makes for a drool-worthy good time.

And read by Benedict Cumberbatch!!!
The story is a classic. But the best of this audio-version is the reader: It's the now pretty famous Benedict Cumberbatch, who played the gorgeous BBC Sherlock and will be seen and heard as The Dragon in The Hobbit.Well, there are enough websites that celebrate B.C.But what's really outstanding in this actor is his VOICE: Dark, deep, but still very soft. Or rather poetically: A voice like dark velvet.Even my husband is absolutely fascinated by it. No wonder B.C. was cast as Smaug. And here's hours and hours of this voice! The friend I bought this for now falls asleep every night listening to it and says: no clue about Casanova, I just listen to the voice. So: Whether you're interested in the fascinating life of Casanova or not:Just listen and enjoy!!!Und selbst wer kein Englisch kann:Die autobiographische Erzählung wird gelesen von Benedict Cumberbatch, der ja inzwischen durchaus bekannt sein dürfte.
