HHT Pilot Assembly NG 446-512A

After fighting with our gas fireplace for years and it being difficult to light and going out after 20 mins I finally decided to swap out the Pilot assembly kit and now it works perfect!!!

My gas fireplace is 24 years old, found the exact replacement parts, easy to install.

I ordered this in January 2022, we used fireplace off and on for 2 months. More of a ambience and minor heat for a cold wife in living room. So in Aug we are testing it for this coming winter and fire would not come on. 2 repair visits later & $300 in labor it was concluded that part went out. Repair company had this part and replaced it and fire place works again.

Replacement was straight forward and easy to install

Everything worked but I had to fabricate a bracket to make it fit my Marco gas fireplace.

This pilot fit exactly where I needed it to go. My gas fireplace insert now works like a charm.

Kdoug's review on this is correct! I read somewhere that these are tested at factory. They must use an open flame b/c I went through 3 igniters thinking that was the problem. I should have looked closely at the electrode positioning before I installed it. Yes, after filling the tube & wire holes with high temp sealant, I could not get the pilot to light. No problem with a lighter/match. I saw arc but figured my old igniter just might not be cutting it, so I bought a replacement at ACE. Same result. I broke that one trying to get it out (my hands shake a bit & it's tight spacing). Put the 3rd igniter in and still NO PILOT. Then I scanned the reviews and read kdoug's comment about repositioning the tip for proper arc placement. Bingo! It took time and special angled needle nose pliers to even get to it. But played with it and finally got it to ignite on each try. The instructions say NOTHING about this. Fwiw, I'm an engineer who has remodeled 3 houses, including electrical work so not a novice dyi guy. I should have just replaced the thermopile as that is what was bad. But I figured the pilot kit would be easier. Nope. The unit did fit my 5000 properly.

It’s been working perfectly fine, I had to realign the ignitor though, to bring the spark closer to the pilot.

Very poor quality and the item broke right after installation in less than one week. now I see I can't even return it anymore.
