About RC522 chip - MFRC522 is a highly integrated read and write chip which is applicable to 13.56MHz contactless communications. - It is a non-contact read and writer card chip, low voltage, low cost and small size, is a better choice for smart meters and portable handheld devices development. - MF RC522 completely integrated in all types of 13.56MHz passive contactless communication methods and protocols. - Support 14443A compatible transponder signals. The digital part handles ISO14443A framing and error detection. In addition, support fast CRYPTO1 encryption algorithms, terminology validation products. - MFRC522 compatible with MIFARE series of high-speed non-contact communication, two-way data transmission rate up to 424kbit/s. - As a highly integrated 13.56MHz card reader new family of chips, there are many similarities between MF RC522, MF RC500 and MF RC530, but also have many differences. Communication between it and the host SPI mode helps to reduce the connection, reduce PCB board size and cost. Item Specifications: Operating current :13-26mA/DC 3.3V Idle current :10-13mA/DC 3.3V Sleep current: <80uA Peak current: <30mA Operating Frequency: 13.56MHz Read Range: 0 ~ 35mm Size: 40mm×60mm Module interfaces SPI: Data transfer rate maximum 10Mbit/s Package Included: 3 x RFID-RC522 Module 3 x S50 Blank IC Card 3 x S50 Key Ring 3 X Straight pins 3 X Curved pins 15 X Extra Key Rings

Range? None.
I usually do not rate things this low but these are complete garbage. You get what you pay for so if I'm rating it on price it would get 5 stars but I want people to be aware. One plus, these things have ALOT of software in github and tutorials online. The bad:Range... this thing has non. You might be able to get away with putting behind a plastic box to protect it but that is it. You had to almost tap the tag on the reader.I bought 3 of these and 2 went dead.Yea if you are looking for a fun project that you will not actually do anything with then use this product. If you want a reliable rfid for a project you care about then go with Adafruits rfid. I had to recode my whole python project because I switched from this card to theirs. Way happier now.

Simply a good product!
This product works exactly as expected, right out of the packaging. The device works with several arduino libraries that are published on github, and was exactly what I needed.

They work but not so good.
I wont say there the best, but they work. The problem is you have to get really close to make them read.

Excellect product!
The media could not be loaded. My project uses a Raspberry PI 3 B+. Plenty of instructions on the Net to set up quickly. Works perfectly every time.
