'An engaging tale that explores many important themes. We can only hope that Roz serves as the template for all future robots. Peter Brown's illustrations are as marvellous as ever!' Coralie Bickford-Smith, author of THE FOX AND THE STAR When robot Roz opens her eyes for the first time, she discovers that she is alone on a remote, wild island. She has no idea how she got there or what her purpose is - but she knows she needs to survive. After battling a fierce storm and escaping a vicious bear attack, she realises that her only hope for survival is to adapt to her surroundings and learn from the island's unwelcoming animal inhabitants. As Roz slowly befriends the animals, the island starts to feel like home - until, one day, her mysterious past comes back to haunt her. From bestselling and award-winning author and illustrator Peter Brown comes a heartwarming and action-packed novel about what happens when nature and technology collide. By turns funny, moving, surprising and dramatic, this is a novel that is as thought-provoking as it is enchanting. A book that took me into a world I couldn’t leave
I am 11 years old and in my opinion this book is really wonderful, in fact I was so interested in the book that I didn’t stop once I started ,if I were to point out 2 likes and 1 dislike I would say that it takes you into an whole other world and that it teaches us about nature in many way but 1 dislike is that it has a bunch of boring parts like 2 character’s explaining what they were doing when not in touch even though we know what they were doing, so it would be better if it was shorter

Lovely book, emotional touching story weaved with a child in the centre.
I read this book after watching the movie. So, I had a lot of influence from the movie character/visuals/voice when I was reading the book. There is considerable difference between the movie and the book. I got this book for my 9yo son but ended up reading first. Strongly recommend for young-adults

Engaging book for all ages!
I loved reading this book out loud to my kiddos, three and six. We definitely watched the movie first. But this was great as we could do some “compare and contrast” between the book and movie. My children stayed engaged and listened well throughout the book which I found impressive. But the story really is just that good! The boys loved the book so much, we’ve also already read the second book! We will be buying the third one soon! These books are too good to simply rent from the library! I’m happy to have them in our collection!

My kid loved the book (story, characters, illustrations)
This is a great read for younger kids as introduction to long-form/novel book. My 7-year-old son enjoyed the story of a robot thrived and survived in a remote island. The use of animals as characters and illustrations added his engagement into the story. Although the book is lengthy - 80 short chapters - it is highly recommended for exploring.

Good story for mothers/guardians too
My son and I are reading it together. It sometimes makes me cry when I read it loud for him. You'd feel so attached to this robot if you're a guardian. Kids would love it feeling the connections between them.
