Sweet, not sappy
I bought this book to use at school for a multi-grade activity, and also read it to several groups of kindergarten students. I thought it might be a little too abstract / too many inferences for the littles, but all the kids (K-2) really liked it. A nice springboard for talking about emotions, what it means to be a good friend.

Brett Helquist's art is just amazing.
I purchased this book for my grandson. His only complaint was that there were no dragons or unicorns on this farm. It is a delightful book with charming illustrations. Brett Helquist's art is just amazing.

Outstanding picture book
This is a wonderful picture book. Adorable story (therapeutic gardening, sticking with your friends when they are down) and well drawn (very expressive eyes). Should be a nominee for children's book awards.

Great kids book. Colorful pages. Cute story. Short enough for a 4 year attention span. The boys loved it. Thanks.

More, more, more--! Please?
Who knows why Goat was grumpy? Maybe Goat was grumpy because he was being moved all by himself to a farm where everyone already knew each other. By and by he loosened up and let the other animals be around him; he discovered he liked their company.A simple story about being friendly and the most engaging illustrations by Brett Helquist will have readers yearning for more stories about Grumpy goat.
