the fan is too noisy for my wife to sleep with unfortunately. If they sold an extension for the hose then I could solve this issue, however they don't. In fact the hose being short is an issue all round. You can place the device next to your bed (too noisy) or under the bed (still too noisy and overheats/does not perform well).I like my bed particularly cold it seems (around 18 degrees) so maybe this isn't aimed at me,but the unit struggles to manage this for any length of time. Our bedroom can get up to 28 degrees without the heating on, and the windows can't be opened due to my wife's aversion to noise. The unit is actually pretty quiet at around 6 decibels (measured roughly on my phone) but this is still not quiet enough for my wife unfortunately, but it may be for most people.. it's about the level of a constant hum you get from a quiet computer fan. If the hose was longer or you could buy an extension it would be possible to find a quieter position, so I'm going to ask CS if they have this option anywhere..

Quite simply, this Climsom Personal cooling product for my bed is the best item I've probably ever bought. And believe me, I've previously tried so many things to enable me to return to enjoying full, pretty much unbroken nights of sleep. The reason? For the first time in more than 2 years I'm finally getting to sleep before 3am as the Climsom is stopping me from burning up in the middle of the night with severe flushing and, since the very first night I used this around two weeks ago, I am now sleeping through without suffering the horrific, bed drenching night sweats caused by, in my case, Cushing's Disease.Once switched on the machine is so quiet at the foot of my bed - not silent, but certainly quiet enough to sleep with (I'd say like a low level fan) - and, although I initially thought, "Surely this isn't making the bed cold enough to stop the sweats?" it undoubtedly IS working. Around 15 to 20 minutes after switching on the Climsom Personal via a wireless remote control, despite it now being increasingly warm as we head into June, the bed mattress is as cool as when you first get into it on an autumn or winter's night. Because I was so desperate due to the night sweats absolutely destroying my sleep and causing numerous extra problems such as itchy, dry skin and dry eyes, I'd initially considered paying extra to buy the Crimsom topper which allows the user to go down to 18 degrees instead of 20, but I honestly think 20 is low enough.All in all I'd certainly recommend the Crimsom Personal to anybody who suffers, in particular, from night sweats caused by serious illness or (although I'm not there myself yet) any woman suffering the effects of the menopause. I'm 42 at the time of writing and so I really hope this will prove to be a good long-term investment for when the menopause finally hits (aagh!).Although I'm yet to try this element of the machine, I believe in the same way I can make the bed cold, if I finally get rid of the horrific sweating effects of Cushing's with medical treatment, and once the temperature plummets, I'll be able to use this same product to warm my bed. This means I'll no longer need to use an electric blanket and can keep the Climsom mattress on my bed for as long as I wish. Hopefully this might also prove to be economically beneficial. In fact, I think it already is as I no longer need to have a fan going all night long, thereby making my room even quieter in which to sleep.Yes, the Crimsom Personal IS a costly purchase and I admit I did fear I might be making a terrible mistake - one I'd be paying months to overcome - but having had my daily life pretty much ruined by night sweats caused by illness, what price repeatedly good nights' worth of sleep?If you're suffering, please, please don't hesitate to invest in this product as, like me, you truly won't regret it.

Still think it would be a great product if it worked ok. I got a replacement unit when first one went wrong, - after quite a long time, so it was generous of them. But now the thing has gone wrong again after a couple of months - it's stuck and unable to change temperatures. The only thing the sellers can recommend is trying to empty the topper itself, which is no joke, as you need to best take the topper to a sink and lift it up one hand with the tube end dangling in the sink (it's a double mattress size!)…then use the key (with the other hand) to drain out the water with gravity forcing it out. The 'key' is difficult to keep in place even with two hands. Haven't been able to face this yet! This is because they think there may be an airlock.It has been so much trouble, but a cool bed is great. And it's very expensive, I think, for something so troublesome.

The cooling system of this product is not on the principle of a domestic refrigerator but done by different form of heat exchange. Air is passed over polarised "plates" and in doing so the warm air is extracted and passed into the room. We have an efficient German coolbox working with this system In the case of the Climson water is cooled in a tank to be circulated in strong protected pipes contained in a mattress topper.The unit is placed at the end of the bed. You will probably need an extension electric cable for that provided with to the unit does not reach the length of the bed to reach a nearby wall socket. A longer length water tube from the unit to the mattress topper is available but it might affect the efficiency of oooling.In operation the Climson is quiet - the main noise being from the fan passing the air over the plate system.Our findings so far is the unit cannot reduce the temperature below 20 degrees C in current ambient conditions. However this setting, although not appearing dramatically cool, is sufficient to provide comfortable sleep and the body certainly is cooled sufficiently.My wife is unduly sensitive to noise and this fan noise has kept her awake. Maybe if future there will be a quieter unit with more power reserved to meet high ambient weather temperatures.At the moment this unit seems good value and is easy to install and is quieter than most air conditioning units. My wife feels she may learn to live with the low level noise.

I felt initial dismay at the noise of the fan and also that the cooling did not seem to be enough but as others have found, it cool enough to bring my burning skin temperature back to a normal feel. And within minutes I cease to be aware of the fan noise. Within twenty minutes I am asleep. Thank you, Climsom!
