Great British Instrumentals

A GOOD EXAMPLE OF MUSIC FROM THE BRITISH INSTUMENTAL BEAT BOOM
If you're into instrumentals, as I am, this 60 track set across 3 CDs presents a good cross section of British stuff put out during the end of the 50s to the early 60s -- some backing bands performing in their own right, some purely instrumental artists, some 'covers', and a few outfits assembled out of session men (performing the usual three chord stuff with their eyes totally shut and extracting the Michael a wee bit!). There's nothing 'rare' here, and it could usually all be heard on 'Saturday Club', the BBC's pop programme aimed strictly at teens. There's one or two overlaps with other such similar reissue compilations, a little bit of dross here and there, but on the whole fairly listenable to and good value for money.

Terrific Value for Money!
It's all been said by others here, but if you are fan you simply cannot miss this collection of 60 Instrumentals from 50's and 60's. Yes if you are a fan you will already have some if not most of the tracks, but not all I bet and not on 3 discs in one package and such surprisingly good quality and variety. There are a numbe of CD's out now at amazing prices and good quality. (Check the "Best of Duane Eddy" and "British Rock and Roll" and "Girls,Girls,Girls") Highly recomended but of course it's bound to appeal to fans, and I suppose "People of a Certain Age", mor than the let's say - "Younger Market" - I could be wrong!

One gets what one pays for
A fiver is a bit much for Telstar and Hoots Mon. I was expecting Green Onions and Take Five, but got suckered by the headline: these were American bands, even though they were British (and US) hits. Tracks from the Ted Heath Orchestra, Kenny Ball and Acker Bilk would have met the expectations the headline offered. The track listing which would have helped is buried below sales pitches for loads of other stuff - detail one product at a time, folks! This is selling at its most disingenuous, at a time when the music industry must recover from C-19 with trustworthy products for music lovers whose income has been C-19-ed.

Cheap Cheerful and Cheering. Buy it for the car if your car still plays CDs (oo see what I did there?)
Good cheap three disc pack for the car. I like instrumentals and these are very much of their (mainly pre Merseybeat) time. There are some by the most famous artists that did them - Telstar by the Tornados is my favourite I love it now as I did then but there are other titles you'll know by artists you won't associate with them Nut Rocker by...Bud Ashton Trio? And some...The Mexican by the Fentones (without Shane Fenton/Alvin Stardust) that will be new to mostIts good, its entertaining and its cheap I ask stuff like this for nothing more so it satisfies.

Who needs vocals
There's something about instrumentals which leave you with a big smile on your face and this collection is no exception. As a lyricist it gives me great ideas as to writing some fab lyric with this music in mind. It seems instrumentals have died a death these days which is a great shame &electronic devices put instruments out of fashion. Crime of the century

I love it :)
So anyway. There I was, thinkin', why don't I play that album I've just bought!Isn't it cheerful :) 60 lovely old tunes in the list. Of COURSE, Telstar had to be there :D The Shadows; The Scorpions; Joe Brown; Lord Rockingham's XI are all included, along with a host of other hot musicians of those far away, long gone days. Brilliant album - excellent compilation of music.
