This kills downdraft issues!
I live 100 yards off the Ocean, just north of Boston. My chimney is on an outside wall and I have had downdraft/backdraft issues in all but a dead calm day (which is almost never). 8 years ago in desperation I tried this and it cured the problem in all but the worst conditions. Even when I would get a little downdraft, (only when the prevailing wind was from a certain angle) it was minimal. When I had the chimney relined this past fall, the liner company convinced me to remove this and use a "top of chimney damper". HUGE mistake! I called a local chimney sweep, had the new damper removed, the old damper reinstalled and the Vacu-Stack re installed and once again the downdraft issue was solved.I have the copper Vacu-Stack and it has aged beautifully.
