Battle Vs Chess (PS3)

I hadn't played a Game of Chess in over 10 years & I had forgotten just about everything about the Game, besides the fact that it was very challenging & gave a great sense of accomplishment if I managed to win. But seeing as it's not something everyone can or is interested in playing; I found it hard to locate a partner to practice with... Then I discovered Battle vs. Chess for PS3... It walks you thru the rolls of each chess piece & even gives you tips about strategies & basic game play... I still can't beat the classic game... But I rule the "Slasher" Battle version & find it to be a refreshing alternative to the straight & narrow gameplay of the classic version. If you ever wanted to learn Chess but felt intimidated by all the variations of pieces, this is the game for you... You don't need to be a genius to play chess, if you can remember combo moves for Mortal Kombat then you can remember the difference between a Queen & a Rook. Trust me, its a very enjoyable game play. My only wish is that there was more variety of the design of pieces/ players/ levels to choose from; the game description leads you to believe there will be several, but in actuality there are only "2". The mode with the regular chess pieces & the Red against White Army. Also the choices of backgrounds/ playing fields were pretty limited as well; Beautiful with pristine graphics, but limited, there are only 3 if memory serves. But my rating of 4 stars stands & is to definitely give this game a try if you or your kids have any interest in chess or battle games or both. (It would be a great way to introduce a classic strategy game to a little boy who enjoyed fighting or combat games; as in the battle mode you get to use the special moves & weapons of each chess pieces character.) Really enjoyable, providing you enjoy thinking & breaking a mental sweat.

On the whole a fun game of chess, however the view of the board isn’t great you can view it from different angles but the two menu squares on either side of the bottom of the screen obstruct the view. It’s difficult to tell the pieces apart when in animation mode & the instruction manual isn’t of much help. The graphics are good but it’s the lack of the view of the board that’s spoils it. I would give this 6 out of 10 it’s a fun game to play

What I liked is the story mode.Play the AI , in different scenarios , eg AI has no knights , or some squares are explosive and blow a piece up etcReal fun here , until you finish story mode , then I sold my copy on !

good games for multiplayer, had a group of friends over and it wasn't planned to play this but we did all afternoon and night.Only thing I don't like is the zoom function, doesn't get in close enough and you have to change view of the pieces to know what piece your playing sometimes.

Great chess game, tough too, though i'm not good at chess, i'll still play it from time to time. Great graphics and backgrounds.

game is good nice graphic good fun but U have to know chess ruls its a bit simular to retro game Archon but for me Archon is better

this is a great game i play chess a lot and its great to have fun or play serious with this game.just enjoy and have a good battle.

really fun chess game that my son and i have spent many an hour battling away playing chess
