Chalkboard Tap Handle - Walnut

I got two of these for a birthday gift for a home brewer and she really liked them. Rather than using "regular" chalk, I gifted this along with a set of markers designed to draw on chalkboard. Based on the pictures she sent me, they work very well on the chalkboard surface. They go on smoothly and won't rub off with regular use (but are easily wiped away with a damp cloth). That might be a good option for those who are having trouble using regular chalk on these.

This is a great little tap to identify home brew beer. I got it with the Wet Liquid Chalk Neon Marker Pen 8 Color Pack Dry Erase pens and it's fun to give names and custom taps to each keg. The markers did not erase very well (some colors better than others), but I found a "magic eraser" works really well to clean it completely. It seems like it will last long and it looks good so I am happy with the quality of the product so far.

I love the idea of a chalkboard tap handle, and the product images look really cool. I bought three of them (two from Amazon, one from another online retailer) and installed them on my draft system. Unfortunately, the chalkboard portion of the handle -- you know, the part that made you want to buy this product in the first place -- is not good for writing on with chalk. What it *is* good for, is scraping away when you write on it with chalk, exposing the wooden handle underneath. The handles are built from quality wood, and they have a great feel, so I suppose exposing more of the wood beneath the chalkboard isn't the worst thing in the world, unless you really want it to, uh, be a working chalkboard. I guess you could buy some chalkboard paint at a craft store and use it to replace the crummy chalkboard that's on this tap handle, but if that's the way this is going to work, it's vastly overpriced. Don't buy this. If you want something similar, I'd consider getting a dry erase version.

I received this tap handle as a gift for Christmas. I am a home brewer so this was perfect. The quality of the handle was good for the price but the blackboard/chalkboard material was very cheap. It was difficult to write the chalk on and basically ruined the concept in general. I was able to sand down the top part and repaint it with a higher quality chalkboard paint. Now the tap looks and functions great. I would recommend spending the extra money and getting a better made tap handle for the consumer, and foR the vendor they should really revise their quality control and think about upgrading the chalkboard material.

The product is exactly as described, the chalkboard area is a little smaller than I thought, but I knew the dimensions before buying, so no fault to the seller. It also is a little pricey for what you get.

The threading is funny on it, so I can't get it to face outward. I'm not sure if this is a common problem with tap handles, and if I can adjust the tap to fix it. It's light, and I feel like it'll snap one day. However, the chalkboard is great. Very "pub-like" and convenient. It really ties my kegerator/kitchen/bar area together.

I was looking for a tap handle for our home bar's kegerator that we could wasily change out the name for different home brews. This is just the answer! Plenty of room to write the type of beer and it seems very well constructed. I am very happy with this product and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Handle itself is exactly what I expected. The chalk does not write as well but it's easy enough to buy another piece of chalk. Makes for a good conversation piece around the keg too.
