From the creators of The Art of FLIGHT, Red Bull Media House presents The Fourth Phase, a snowboarding epic starring iconic athlete Travis Rice. While exploring the untapped backcountry of his native Wyoming, Rice plots a 16,000 mile course to follow the hydrological cycle around the north Pacific, where snow and ice create dreamlike landscapes on the towering mountains above. From the Japanese Alps to the volcanoes of Russia, and a spectacularly remote area of Alaska, Rice is joined by several of snowboarding's most innovative riders including Mark Landvik, Eric Jackson, Bryan Iguchi, Pat Moore, Mikkel Bang, Jeremy Jones, Victor de Le Rue, Ben Ferguson, and more. Scored by Kishi Bashi, The Fourth Phase carves a fresh path by using an artistic blend of action, story and cinematography to bring this stunning 4K feature to life. This film is for anyone fascinated by the possibilities of adventure, of the natural world of life. DVD / BLU RAY / DOWNLOAD COMBO Review: Great value - Absolute best snowboarding movie in the world. And this was the best deal to recive all three versions in 1 Review: Snowboarder or Not, Watch the Film ... Yes, it's THAT Good! - Travis Rice is nothing short of amazing. It's not just the fact that he's one of the world's best snowboarders, it's his drive and ability - or actually his need to push his limits and do what others won't or can't. The other huge selling point for Fourth Phase, one that was big with my own 10 year old snowboarder is the science involved in the film. The science of water and the cycle from the vantage point of the film- from ocean, through all four phases to snow, and some of the things Shin and Travis were saying about the cycle really fascinated my science-loving grom. I don't even know how many times she's watched it already! The cinematography was beautiful! And as always, we love watching the bond between all the riders Travis gets together for his films. Even if you're not a snowboarder, watch the film, it's pretty sick!

It's not just a movie for snowboarders.
I loved this movie from start to finish. It's completely different than the Art of Flight which I also loved but for other reasons. In this film, Travis Rice and his incredible snowboarding friends take on some of the most difficult weather conditions and on some days the mountains won and other days they did. The thing that struck me the most is Travis Rice's quest for self-actualization. It's incredible! He has this amazing sense of drive and determination to do new and otherwise impossible things- its beautiful. I'm not a snowboarder, never have been but this movie is about more than that- its about chasing your dreams and not being afraid to fail. I recommend this film to everyone. PS. Take it all in and appreciate the majestic quality of mother nature.

Great snowboarding movie - highlights some of the struggles of it all compared with previous films from the same group
This movie is awesome because Travis Rice is fantastic. It's not quite as good as the art of FLIGHT, but I think it's because they just didn't have the conditions they needed to when filming it. They had bureaucratic blocks in some cool locations, Travis was hurt, Landvik seemed kind of disengaged... But they definitely made the best of it with what they had. The cinematography was fantastic. There are certainly a worthwhile number of epic scenes. The soundtrack is good as always. It feels like this film was more about Travis Rice than the rest of them - it's a little more focused on him than "that's it that's all" or "the art of FLIGHT". It feels like more of Travis' personal journey and struggles, but it also highlights the difficulties of pushing the sport to its limits. Overall it's cool and worth watching. Enjoy in HD with a great big sound system and crank up the volume.

A film with purpose.
As a huge fan of the Art of Flight, I anxiously awaited the release of the Fourth Phase and set absurdly high exceptions. Four years of filming... surely this film will be incredible. Well it was, but not how I expected it to be. If you are hoping for a direct sequel of the Art of Flight, you may be disappointed. This film took a much more mature approach to snowboarding. As a rider that has matured myself, I found I enjoyed the experience granted in this film more than Art of Flight. It has a beautiful balance of great riding, scenery, and some of the epic performances we loved. The cinematography is unparalleled, but the greatest strength in this film is the personal connection it brings. It felt almost like a tribute to the sport and provided a sense of closure for an incredible sport and what makes it so great.

Love, love
Love, love, love this movie, and watched it many times. With great respect to nature, combined with scientific explanation of the fourth phase of water which was discovered by professor Gerald Pollack. It is definitely deeper then earlier Travis Rice's movies. It has a story. Fantastic snowboarding. Very inspiring. Beautiful mountains and landscapes. The movie is a masterpiece.

Great movie. Defines the "soul" of snowboarding
Great movie. Defines the "soul" of snowboarding. Not your typical snowboard movie. If you are looking for continuous big hits and sick tricks, this is not your movie (although the riding is insane as always). Quality and cinematography is exceptional. I've been riding for over 20 years. When I kick back with a movie like this one, the hair on the back of my neck stands up and I get that itch to go riding again. Even though these days it's only with my two little ones.

Pretty good - just not nearly as good as The Art of Flight
Caution: slight spoiler in this review! How do you beat a snowboarding film as amazing as The Art of Flight? It may be topped one of these days, but The Fourth Phase doesn't do it. That's not to say it's a bad movie; it still has unreal snowboarding action and incredible cinematography, but where Flight was very optimistic in its storytelling, Phase is kind of depressing - I guess mainly because <spoiler> Travis Rice is caught in an avalanche, injured and can't ride for a year. </spoiler> There also does not seem to be as much variety of terrain or styles - I especially missed Nicolas Mueller, who I think stole the show in Flight (but that's just me); yes, they do travel and change settings, but the novelty is not there like in Flight. They also kind of recycle some ideas, like sliding/bonking trees. If you were going to buy just one snowboard film, I'd recommend The Art of Flight. If you want to add to your collection, The Fourth Phase is worthy. Personally, I probably won't watch it start-to-finish nearly as often as I do Flight, but it has some scenes I'll check out again.

Magnifique film, rien de comparable avec les autres films de snowboard. C'est un film très artistique, on comprend qu'il ai mis autant de temps pour le faire.

An amazing work of art. The camera angles, motion, follow techniques were breathtaking and the additional features well worth watching. A cinematic masterpiece.
