desertcart.com: VANDESAIL OM3 MPO to MPO Fiber Patch Cable, 12-Core Type B, 10 m, 2-Pack | LSZH jacket, MTP compatible, Individually Tested, QSFP+/QSFP28 support, 40G/100G networking : Electronics Review: Good quality - No issues. The MPO connectors mated in with little to no effort. I used this on a 100G connection. Link came up immediately and has been up ever since with minimal light loss and no errors. No news is good news, very happy with the performance! Review: Works great for my workstation that has a 40GB NIC. Does the full 40GB with ease. - This cable is used on the last leg of my run to one of my workstations that has a 40GB network card in it. It easily does 40GB, I can't tell you about its 100GB performance but it does well for my needs. The cable fit perfectly into the Transceiver I am using and holds in place well.

Good price to performance
💰 Price & Value This cable is a great low-cost option. At around $10, the price-to-performance ratio is excellent, making it a solid choice for budget-conscious builds or homelab setups. 🔧 Construction • The strain relief boots at both ends are not particularly tight and tend to come loose easily. • While functional, the build quality feels less durable compared to premium cables, which could be a concern in environments with frequent handling. 📦 Shipping & Packaging • The cable arrived with dust caps, which is good practice. • However, the caps were pushed in too far, leaving the spring release mechanism slightly loose right out of the box. ⚡ Testing & Performance Despite minor construction and shipping issues, the cable performed impressively in real-world testing: • Fit snugly into QSFP28 optics without any alignment issues. • iperf tests showed excellent throughput with no lost packets or retries. Test environment: • Workstation with 4 RAID 10 PCIe x4 NVMe SSDs and an all-flash NAS, both with Mellanox ConnectX-5 NICs • Mikrotik CRS510 and CRS520 switches connected to test machines via QSFP28 DACs • The MPO patch cable tested here served as the medium between the two Mikrotik switches and handled the workload flawlessly. ✅ Conclusion For a $10 cable, the performance was outstanding. It’s a fantastic option for stable, long-term connections where cables aren’t frequently swapped. That said, in a test lab or other environment with constant insertions/removals, the looser strain relief and spring release may limit its longevity compared to more premium options.

MPO for trunking between switches or to cassette breakout
I could note that my homelab has gotten maybe a bit out-of-hand lately - running 100Gb between switches isn't your typical home network. And yet, here we are. This is my first use of MPO cable for networking, and while it was slightly more complicated and required different transceivers than I usually have on-hand, I do like the results. MPO is neat and clean compared to running multiple optics, and can be run further than a DAC, and even split into component LC pairs downstream from the switch which simplifies some network layouts. Here I ran it between two of my 100Gb switches, and it gave me a clean single-fiber high-speed connection easily. Because of the multiple pairs I could have also run it in different split configs, such as 4x25GB or 6x10Gb (6 pairs of fiber here). I will certainly be looking to the splitting more as I would like to run multiple 25Gb connections to several servers in the future for parallel operations. As a first test for me, it was very successful.

Wow,this connection is fast.
I used this MPO to MPO Fiber Cable to connect between to 40G SQFP adapters. The connection was detected and negotiated within seconds of plugging in both end. The measured was consistent with a 40G connection. The included caps are very secure to ensure the fiber ends are protected.

Passes all the tests, does what a patch cable should do.
I got this cable to supplement the lab environment at the Community College where I teach networking. Had my students confirm quality using a basic optical loss test (OLTS) set to verify continuity and acceptable signal loss across fiber runs. (Actually started with a VFL (Visual Fault Locator) - crude but start simple, right?) It passed all the tests without a problem. Higher quality "feel" then I was expecting at this price. There's not much to say here ... it's a patch cable, it does its job. For me, I just waned an inexpensive cable that my students could "play" with in a lab environment - and it certainly covers that nicely!

dependable
I used this MPO to MPO Fiber Cable (3 ft, OM3 Multimode, 12-Core, LSZH Jacket) in a network rack to connect QSFP+ transceivers, and it performed exactly as expected. The cable is well-constructed with a sturdy LSZH jacket that feels robust without being overly stiff, making it easy to route in tight spaces behind a switch. Connections seated securely on both ends with no noticeable signal loss, and throughput has been stable at full bandwidth during sustained data transfers. This patch cable works best in high-speed environments where clean, reliable links are crucial — in my case tying together 40 Gbps network gear with zero issues. The MTP/MPO terminations fit without excessive force and haven’t loosened or shifted during normal rack activity. Based on build quality, compatibility with QSFP+ transceivers, and reliable performance during real-world use, it fully supports a five-star rating.
