Hi, thanks for your question. Scabies can be seen with a magnifying glass or microscope 10-40x or 20-60x, depending on the source. That is to say that our Carson MP-300 Pen Microscope is perfect for seeing scabies mites.

Q: Is this 60-75x or 60-100x as shown in the video, altho' the stills show 60-75x

Hi! That is an old video for the previous version of the product. In its newest version the MicroMax MM-200 has a power of 60x-75x . We really appreciate you bringing this to our attention, since we're very invested in providing the most accurate information about our products. Q: Do you need to press this against the object you're viewing? Or can you view from a short distance?

To ensure the best viewing experience, any object must be flush against the clear microscope base (or 1 millimeter away at most). Additionally, remember to very slowly adjust the focusing ring until the image is sharp and clear. Practice focusing on flat objects first before trying on 3D objects.
