Great value and super quiet!
Definitely a nice pump. Very quiet and seems to be plenty powerful to get the hot water circulated. As some others have mentioned, the threaded are 3/4 straight thread. All copper threaded pieces are typically tapered (NPT). The way I got around this was to use dielectric fittings with a 3/4 FIP to 3/4 sweat ends. This does two things for you. One, it gets you the straight threads to get a good seal with teflon tape. And two, it allows you to totally remove the pump without having to cut any pipe. I run the pump using a smart plug hooked to my google home. I set up a custom routine so I just have to say one word and it runs the routine of "Turn on hot water for 1 minute" where the smart plug is named "hot water".

Works Great
Update: I've had this for 4 years now and still running great. Original review: I got this to circulate water from my hot water heater to the far fixtures in my house for instant hot water. It works great. Other reviewers posted issues with the pump because they couldn't stop the leaks from the connections. With a lot of plumbing experience, I figured that I was smart enough to overcome those issues. First thing to realize it that the threads are hose threads, not pipe threads so a straight pipe connection would not work. I first purchased an adapter with hose threads thinking that I had quickly whipped the problem - wrong, it leaked bad. I don't know if it was the weak threads or the adapter was warped, but after multiple tries I could not get it to stop leaking. So much for my superior experience. Next I tried a braided hose designed for water heater connections. That worked! The problem with this approach is how to support the pump because the hose will not. I got a long hose, 24", long enough to loop without kinking, and looped it so that the pump rested on top of the water heater. I used the styrofoam packing to cradle it and just let it rest on the water heater and completed the connection to the water supply with another braided line. No problems. I made a timer with a light switch timer linked to an outlet. That also works like a charm at less than $30. See photos. I am considering, however, getting a smart outlet so that I can turn on the pump with an app just when hot water is needed as another reviewer mentioned.

Working reliably with multiple 15 minute cycles today on plugin timer.
We are using this quiet, stainless steel pump, rated for potable water as a hot water recirculating pump. We have it plugged into a timer and running several 15 minute cycles at likely times during the day. If you hook it up in the lower floors of the house (basement) there shouldn't be any problem with it loosing its prime. If your plumbing system is accessible or exposed (basement) you can run the hot water in a loop by adding another line rather than using the cold lines for a return. This way, you only need a single check valve just before the hot water returns to the cold line which supplies the water heater.

Disappointed for the money spent
I like the size of the pump. Very sturdy. I would ABSOLUTELY install this on top of the water heater (where the hot water comes out) because it is heavy and if you use PEX for support it will warp. What do i dislike? IT LEAKS!!! It appears to be leaking at the threads where it would screw into a female end and not from a crack in the housing (which would be grounds for replacement). And the leak appears to come from the discharge side of the pump. I have it coming out of the water heater to a 3/4" sharkbite female (no leak there), then a 3" stub of copper to another shakbite. NO LEAKS to this point when tested with a plug. Now i screw the pump in place. Male thread in the housing appears to be meant for a GARDEN HOSE and not permanent in-line plumbing. I seat it hand tight plus about half a turn with a wrench as i usually do with threaded connecters. SUGGESTION:. it would sure be nice if this pump already came with a female adapter...hint hint I do the same on the other side of the pump. Male threads into female threaded shark bite, and in to the house plumbing. I pressurize the system. Sure enough, drip, drip, drip right at the threads - no leaks along any of the shark bite points. Perhaps they need to engineer these wirh shark bite fittings? There are more drips at the discharge side threads than input side. Not sure what to think of it honestly. I spent half an hour in a very hot attic trying 2 and 3 turns and varying degrees of torque. Still leaks.. I suspect these male ends are for garden hose bibs and not general NPT / American spec fittings. I read someone else made it work with a garden hose rubber washer, and taping the threads with 6 to 8 turns. That will probably be the next step. If that works, i will let you know. I hate having to jury-rig sh!t. If you are going to sell things in America, make sure your crap fits

surprisingly quiet pump
Installation was to pump pool water through a tank-less heater. Other reviews said the threads on the fittings leaked, and when I dry-fitted the input side to 3/4 NPT PVC coupler, it did seem not very tight. So I inserted a garden hose washer into the coupler, and put a few extra wraps of thread tape around the threads (about 8 wraps in all). No leaks so far. The output side didn't seem as loose (go figure), so I went with just the tape, no washer, and it doesn't leak either. I made sure the pump was primed, set it to the lowest setting, plugged it in and at first thought it wasn't working because I didn't hear anything - but water was coming out the other side. On "low" the pump is super quiet. It does make more sound on the "high" setting, but not what I would call loud. I'm very happy with the pump so far, will post an update if reliability is an issue.

Super quiet and works excellent
I used this for a loop system with a tankless hot water heater. We were wasting a lot of water waiting for the water to get hot at the faucet. I installed a T at the farthest hot water use, ran a line back to the heater, and installed the pump in between. You will need two one way check valves to keep water from running backward through the pump and the other to prevent hot water from entering the supply side. I plugged this into a smart plug. When we want hot water, I tell "Alexa - Hot water" Just remember to turn it off! What a huge difference. This pump is so quiet, it is hard to tell it is on! So far, so good!

This pump doesn't self prime; received refund!
I tried to use it for a recirculating pump. It never worked. It would not prime and would not push the recirculated water down to the water heater cold line. Update 2/20/20: Hompat could not help me to get the pump to prime; but they gave me a refund.

pump did not work.
I mistakenly wrote a poor review but like many poor reviews on Amazon: it was user error. I recently moved to the southwest and didn't realize the nature of hard water and had plugged my check valve on the return line. I have a water softener but even with the use of that; it still built up calcium and stopped the return flow of water. the pump is working great now after cleaning out the valve.

Started with bad threads, has ended with the impeller eating itself.
Unit has been operating for maybe 100 hours in total. First the threads were a mess which made installation problematic and how the plastic impeller has managed to grind itself into the inside of the pump. Kind of difficult to recommend. Wish I had been able to install it before the end of the return period.
