Clever designing, the proper use of wood and plastic make a versatile knife block suitable for almost any kind of kitchen knife. I had just bought a set of steak knives that turned out to be much larger than I expected. Excellent knives I was loath to return them, but my wife declared we had no suitable storage and not another thing could be crammed on our counters without losing the ability to even make a PB&J sandwich. I search Amazon high and low and purchased this block that had generally good reviews. It is simply a rectangular empty block of wood with an inexpensive grate of black plastic. However, the wood is exceptionally attractive and the grate is colored black so you can’t readily tell it is plastic. It presents as a clean, simple block in the Scandinavian aesthetic of light woods of simple design. And lo and behold, the grate has numerous slots that accommodate many number of knives less than 9 inches in length. All of my steak knives fit and looked great. It also has a hole for a steel and a hole for kitchen/poultry shears — a real time saver eliminating searching in drawers. And its compact design with minimum footprint meant it fit in front of my cutting boards leaning against the backsplash. All I had to do was stand them up straight. I surprised my wife and kept her happy.

Excellent knife block. The undefined slots allow for total flexibility and inclusion of larger blades, not adequately accounted for in defined slot blocks. Very happy with this purchase - it's function, appearance, and small footprint. Works perfectly, and solved my knife storage challenges.

Really nice but i wish it had a handle so you could scoot it in and out from under cabinets (no angle).

I’m usually not a fan of knife blocks but loved the look of this one and didn’t want to keep mine in a drawer anymore. I love that I can put the knives anywhere in the block and they’re well organized. It’s the perfect size to fit all my knives, kitchen scissors and I keep my meat thermometer in the knife sharpener slot so it’s handy while I’m cooking.

The block has a big crack on one side and has expanded over time. The block is bulky and not easy to clean from within.

A great knife block with room for scissors and a sharpener too. Holds 8 or so knives easily. Upright design uses less space, but the tradeoff is slightly less easy access. The knives are held in slotted plastic grid, which seems robust. In the long term it may become a weak point if cut by a knife. Good value and good functionallity.
