Laptop Keyboard for Acer Aspire 5740 5740G Series Replacement for Part Number: AS5810T-8952

I have had a lot of problems with the keyboard for my Acer Aspire 5740-5780. For a few years, I had periodically had a problem with the computer sensing that I was repeatedly hitting enter when I was not. I ruled out everything else, and determined that it was probably a glitch in the keyboard after years of wear and tear. I ordered this keyboard a few days ago in a last ditch effort to save my otherwise well-functioning Acer laptop. So far I could not be happier! It was so, so easy to install! I didn't even have to unscrew anything. I removed the battery (just as a precaution), and then snapped off the upper cover plate above the keyboard (the one that surrounds the on/off button). There were four small clips holding the keyboard in along the top, so I unclipped them. The keyboard slid out easily. I then lifted the small black bar that holds the keyboard wiring to the machine, and it slipped out. I slipped in the new one, reclipped the black bar, and slid the keyboard into place. I gently pushed the edges of the new keyboard around its perimeter to make sure it was in place, and then reattached the upper cover. When I rebooted the computer, the keyboard worked perfectly, and no more incessant beeping or random returns! The keys are a little softer to press than the original keyboard, but it looks exactly the same. I did not think replacing a keyboard on a laptop was even possible, let alone so easy and cheap!

The keyboard is exactly the same as the original. But the buttons are a bit flimsy. I tried to clean underneath one of the buttons, I got a bit aggressive and it came off. I could put it back in with some reverse engineering, but it's noticeably more cheaply made than the original. (I was every bit as aggressive then as i am now). Other than that everything is good with the keyboard. No complaints.

The keyboard arrived quickly and fit perfectly in my Aspire 5740-5780. Unfortunately, it does not work properly. The space bar only works if you hit it dead center, which makes typing very difficult. Also, the keys are much softer than the original keyboard. They feel like they are all about ready to pop off as they are very loose. After reading the positive reviews, I am dissapointed that this did not work for me. Thankfully, Amazon let me return it after the 30 day return window had passed.

This is a perfect replacement part, but I would caution anyone who hopes to do this themselves. I had to have my wife connect the ribbon - this was a very delicate procedure. My big fingers had a hard time putting the ribbon in. In the end, she got it. I spent about 10 minutes on the ribbon, and she spent about 5. Everything else was very easy. I looked on YouTube and found a video guide. Funny though - they did not include video showing how to put the ribbon back in. Now I know why (it's tough!).

This came quicker that was advertised, so thank you!! It had a little bit of damage on the underside, the aluminum was peeling up. I installed it within minutes, and It worked! YAY!!!!!

Worthless. This is my second replacement keyboard. Numerous keys do not work. Afther i discovered that 1, 3,q, and j didn't work I gave up, pulled it back out, and replaced it with the first replacement I bought. On that one the space bar only works when it is struck hard. Normal typing is impossible. So two replacements and none of them are worth the time or money. Destroyed this one when removing it so I can't even return it. Would give zero stars if possible.

love my replacement keyboard, My old one, the letter "N" pops out by accident and another key didn't want to stay on, so I decided to replaced the entire keyboard, it is well worth it.

Not as good as OEM but it's working good so far. Installation was easy.
