Great little camera
This is my first GoPro, after reading all the negative reviews of the Hero 7 Black I went with the silver. Mainly to save the extra $100. So far so good, I have it mounted on my center console on my boat. Video is super smooth and clear on the 1080p setting. I have not tried 4k as of now - I do not have a 4k compatible TV or computer. Pictures are OK. They will not be DSLR quality but then again this is made for action videos. I will update review after a few weeks of playing with it. The only downfall right now is that GoPro nor any 3rd party companies make a waterproof housing for the silver/white just yet. I know its waterproof and it works well. Sometimes you just want some added protection. Not a deal breaker.

Short battery, good camera.
Good camera for what it's intended. Waterproof, and resilient. The battery life is shockingly short though. Barely 45 minutes of recording time on a full charge. I'm told this is fairly standard though.

Great Videos, short battery life
The video on this is great. The picture is always clear and it stabilizes very well. I many use this on my motorcycle and even when I use a bar mount, there is still no discernible shake, and for reference, there are many instances when the vibration from the motor make my mirrors blurry. The battery, though, is big disappointment. You MIGHT get an hour of video before it dies. You also can't plug it in and record at the same time so there goes the hardwire power thought. Also, when you plug it into your computer to download videos, it's also running on battery, not charging. If you need more than an hour at a time for your videos, better get the black as it has replaceable batteries.

Love Our GoPro
These are pretty simple to operate and capture very good quality videos and images. Would like to be able to have multiple battery packs as we were originally worried about the charge being an issue, but the batteries held a charge for a long time. Having the readily available tools to buy for easy hands off use is very important as it makes working with the camera much easier and more enjoyable - you can set it up, go about your hike and not worry about it.

Def worth the money
My husband and I have a very active lifestyle - when we cruise we always look for the expeditions that will take us to do something or see something we have never done. When we are not on vacation we spend our weekends kayaking, hiking, snorkeling, paddle-boarding, boating, camping. The HERO 7 Silver was the perfect addition to our adventures. We now have amazing videos and pix from all our adventures that we can share with our friends and family.

It works for what my creative needs.
This is my third GoPro Silver, I love this camera for what I do in terms of film making. I wish it had image stabilization, but I know that would be additional cost production wise. I love how with the update it will go into portrait mode so I can do my Instagram stories on something other that my phone. I would try the GoPro 8 or 9 but I keep hearing more bad things than good things.

Waterproof gasket fails easily - ruined my camera on a snorkeling trip
I've had the GoPro Hero 7 Silver for a little over a year and it works well enough for what it is. I got some decent photos and videos out of it. However, I recently took it on a trip to Cozumel where I was planning on taking it with me while I was snorkeling. Somehow, even though the door that protects the electronic ports was closed, the gasket failed and water got in as soon as I got into the water, and it basically ruined the camera preventing me from getting the videos and photos of the amazing underwater fish and coral reefs that I had brought it with me to use on. Very disappointing. If they're going to rate it waterproof and it's not foolproof, they need better instructions on how to absolutely verify that it's sealed correctly before you take it in water and start using it. I had previously used it in water without any issues so I'm not sure why the gasket failed or the door failed to seal this time but it was awful timing for it to have this probem.
